Objective:To investigate the current status of emotional labor,professional values and job burnout of ICU nurses,as well as explore the impact of ICU nurses' emotional and professional values on job burnout.Methods:Totally 249 ICU nurses of three comprehensive third-grade class-A hospitals were investigated using the general information questionnaire and nurses' emotional labor scale,professional values scale and job burnout scale.The SPSS 17 software was used to analyze the data by descriptive analysis,t-test,variance analysis,correlation analysis,multiple linear regression analysis.The AMOS 23 software was used to explore the intermediary effect of ICU nurses' emotional labor between their occupational values and job burnout.Results1.The average score of emotional labor of ICU nurses was 3.55+0.45.The scores of deep acting,expression of genuine emotion and surface acting were4.62+0.80,3.29+0.74 and 3.24+0.74.The average score of professional values of ICU nurses was 3.63+0.41.The scores of trust,care provision,responsibility freedom and safety and activism were 3.72+0.53,3.70+0.45,3.69+0.54 and 3.47+ 0.42.The scores of emotional exhaustion,depersonalization and personal accomplishment of ICU nurses were 24.95+9.67,7.69+6.34 and 30.26+9.25.2.The scores of ICU nurses' emotional labor in educational background,department,working years and professional titles were statistically different(P<0.05),The scores of ICU nurses' professional values in educational background,clinical teaching situation,relationship with the hospital and monthly night shift were statistically different(P<0.05).The scores of ICU nurses' job burnout in department,clinical teaching situation and monthly night shift were statistically different(P<0.05).3.There was a significant relationship between the factors of professional values,the factors of emotional labor and the factors of job burnout.4.Professional values and emotional labor was found to have a strong effect on job burnout.professional values had direct negative predictive effect on emotional exhaustion and depersonalization,and had direct positive predictive effect on personal accomplishment.Surface acting had direct positive predictive effect on emotional exhaustion and depersonalization,and had direct negative predictive effect on personal achievement.Deep acting had direct negative predictive effect on depersonalization,and had direct positive predictive effect on personal achievement.Occupational values also had indirect predictive effect on job burnout through surface acting and deep acting.Conclusions1.ICU nurses have moderate levels of emotional labor and professional values,and serious job burnout.2.The demographic variables such as educational background,department,working years,professional title,clinical teaching situation,relationship with the hospital and monthly night shift had a certain influence on the emotional labor,professional values and job burnout of ICU patients.3.The correlation between professional values,emotional labor and job burnout of ICU nurses was significant.4.The professional values and emotional labor of ICU nurses had direct effect on job burnout,the professional values also had indirect effect on job burnout through emotional labor.Managers of hospital should pay attention to improving the professional values and optimizing the choice of emotional labor strategies of ICU nurses,which can relieve the job burnout of ICU nurses.
