Objective The study was conducted to compare the effects of acupuncture combined with pricking and cupping therapy and acupuncture therapy on the quality of life, symptoms of traditional Chinese medicine in acne patients with damp heat of spleen and stomach, and analyse efficacy of the two methods. The relationship between the life quality of patients and the skin lesion was also analyzed,to provide reference for the clinical treatment of acne. Methods 63 patients with acne meeting the inclusion criteria were randomly assigned to a trial group and a control group.32 patients in the experimental group was treated with acupuncture combined with pricking and cupping therapy,31 patients in the control group used acupuncture therapy only. The main acupoints in experimental group were Dazhui,Hegu,Quchi,Neiting,Yangbai,Sibai,Ashi points,damp-heat type of spleen and stomach was compatible with Zusanli,Yinlingquan.Aupoints of limbs were pinpricked vertically, lifting and thrusting until patients had a sense of soreness.Ashi acupionts were pinpricked around skin lesions, shaking large pinholes when taking the needles. The acupuncture was kept for 30 minutes.Patients received the treatment every other day.15 times for a course of treatment, with a total of 2 courses of treatment. The acupuncture treatment in experimental group were the same with the control group, besides,it had a pricking and cupping therapy on the back. The acupoints are Dazhui, bilateral Feishu, bilateral Geshu.2-3 acupoints were choosed each time to have a cupping bloodletting after pricking with a disposable blood collection needle.Cupping jar was kept for 10 minutes.Patients received the treatment once a week.4 times is a course of treatment, with a total of 2 courses of treatment. After 2 courses of treatment, the changes of TCM syndrome scores,Qol-Acne scores in the two groups were observed.Differences in efficacy between two groups were evaluated. And an analysis of the relationship between quality of life and skin lesions in patients with acne is given. Results 1.Clinical efficacy:The comparision of the diffenence in total efficiency between the control group and experimental group was statistically significant, with 77% and 90% respectively.2.Qo L-Acne scores: The Qo L-Acne scores in both groups were higher than before. The differences were statistically significant compared with that before treatment in the control group(P< 0.05).And this is the same with the experimental group(P< 0.05).But the Qo L-Acne scores of the experimental group were remarkably higher than that of the control group after treatment, which was statistically significant(P< 0.05).3.TCM syndrome scores:The TCM syndrome scores were lower than before in the two groups. The differences were statistically significant in both groups(P< 0.05).However the TCM syndrome scores of the experimental group were notably lower than that of the control group after treatment. The differences were statistically significant(P< 0.05).4.The correlation analysis between change of skin lesion scores and that of Qo L-Acne scores in the two groups:There was an negative correlation between change of skin lesion scores and that of Qo L-Acne scores in the two groups. The correlation coefficients in the experimental group and the control group were respectively-0.858 and-0.603(P<0.01).Conclusion 1.Acupuncture has a synergistic effect with pricking blood and cupping therapy.Acupuncture combined with pricking blood and cupping therapy is superior to acupuncture only in clinical efficacy, alleviating TCM syndrome and improving quality of life.2.Acne skin lesion affect patients, quality of life obviously.By reducing skin lesion, alleviating TCM syndrome, the acupuncture combined with pricking blood and cupping therapy can enhance patients, quality of life.
