Background:Tension-type headache(TTH)is the clinically common disease. The main symptoms are the clamping and pressure-induced pain in the whole head, including bilateral temporal, occipital and forehead, with or without soreness. With the accelerating pace of human social life,an era of high-speed operation is coming. The increasing dramatically pressure is coming to people, from work and family to life, and the above symptoms can be seen in more and more people. In view of the differences in the clinical efficacy of the related drugs, and thinking of the long time of taking medicine, which would result in heavier costs,it could aggravate the social and economic burden to some extent,Therefore,it is particularly urgent to explore a kind of treatment method clinically which is quite effective and applicable. Objective:To provide an effective theoretical basis and clinical methods for the treatment of TTH through the study the curative effect of electro-acupuncture combined with auricular acupuncture in the treatment of patients with TTH.Methods:According to the relevant standards, including diagnostic criteria, inclusion criteria, exclusion criteria and shedding criteria,80 patients diagnosed as TTH at both outpatient and ward of Department of Neurology of Wuhan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine were selected and then randomly divided into the treatment group(electro-acupuncture plus auricular acupressure group)and the control group(ibuprofen sustained-release capsules group),from July 2016 to January 2018.The treatment group was treated with electro-acupuncture combined with auricular acupressure therapy, while the control group received 600 mg ibuprofen orally once a day. Both groups were given a course of six days and a second session after having rest for one day between sessions, and there are 4 courses in total. We can evaluate the clinical curative effect, after observing the changes of headache efficacy indexes(headache' degree, duration, attack frequency, accompanying symptom,VAS score, present pain intensity,SCL-90 score)in two groups before the treatment,2 weeks after the treatment,4 weeks after the treatment. Results:There was no significant difference between the baseline data of the two groups before the treatment(P>0.05),which is comparable.Compared with the indexes before the treatment, both the indicators of two groups were improved after having respectively received the treatment for 2 weeks and 4 weeks(P <0.05).Compared the two groups, there was no obvious difference in headache duration,PPI score, and VAS score between the two groups after having received the treatment for 2 weeks(P>0.05),while the curative effect of the treatment group was better than the control group in terms of the headache' degree, attack frequency, accompanying symptom, and SCL-90 score(all P <0.05).Actually,compared with the control group, after 4 weeks of treatment, the whole headache indexes were significantly improved(all P <0.05).In terms of overall efficacy, the total effective rate was 95% in the treatment group and it was 85% in the control group, showing the fact that the former had an ideal advantage over the latter on the therapeutic effect(P <0.05).Conclusion:The treatment of electro-acupuncture combined with auricular acupuncture for TTH is more effective than ibuprofen sustained release capsules, which can significantly reduce the degree of headache, duration, attack frequency and accompanying symptom. In addition,it can make great improvements to quality of life while significantly ameliorating patient's mood.
