Objective:The objective of this randomized controlled trail was to explore the effectiveness of Baduanjin exercise on motor function in patients with post-stroke cognitive impairment(PSCI).Methods:A total of 48 participants were recruited and randomly allocated into the control group(n=24)or intervention group(n=24).Participants in the control group have received health education,while participants in the intervention group have received a 24-week Baduanjin exercise training with a frequency of 3 days a week and 40 min a day.The outcomes have been assessed at baseline,8 weeks,16 weeks and 24 weeks after intervention and at 28 weeks after a 4-week follow-up period.Results:1.For the global motor function,the Fugl-Meyer Assessment scores in the intervention group were higher than the control group at 24 weeks after intervention and at 28 weeks after a 4-week follow-up period.(P<0.05).2.For the balance function,the Berg Balance Scale scores in the intervention group were higher than the control group at 16 weeks,24 weeks after intervention and at 28 weeks after a 4-week follow-up period(P<0.05).3.For the myodynamia,the myodynamia of musculus biceps brachii in the intervention group was higher than the control group at 16 weeks,24 weeks after intervention and at 28 weeks after a 4-week follow-up period(P<0.05).The myodynamia of musculus triceps brachii and musculi quadriceps femoris in the intervention group were higher than the control group at 24 weeks after intervention and at 28 weeks after a 4-week follow-up period(P<0.05).No significant difference showed on the myodynamia of hamstring between two groups after intervention(P>0.05),but the myodynamia of hamstring in the intervention group was higher than the control group at 28 weeks after a 4-week follow-up period(P<0.05).4.For the muscular tension,the muscular tension of upper limbs in the intervention group was less than the control group at 16 weeks,24 weeks after intervention and at 28 weeks after a 4-week follow-up period(P<0.05).No significant difference showed on the muscular tension of lower limbs between two groups after intervention(P>0.05),but the muscular tension of lower limbs in the intervention group of was less than the control group at 28 weeks after a 4-week follow-up period(P<0.05).5.For the activities of daily living,after the intervention,the Modified Barthel Index scores in the intervention group were higher than the control group(P<0.05).No significant difference showed on the Modified Barthel Index between two groups at 28 weeks after a 4-week follow-up period(P>0.05).6.For the global cognitive function,after the intervention,the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale scores in the intervention group were higher than the control group(P<0.05).7.For the gait function,after the intervention,step length in affected side,stride length in affected side,forward velocity in affected side and cadence in both affected and unaffected sides in the intervention group were higher than the control group(P<0.05).Step width and the difference between left and right stride in the intervention group were less than the control group(P<0.05).No significant difference showed on support timr and swing time between two groups after the intervention(P>0.05).8.For the correlation analysis,after the intervention,the Fugl-Meyer Assessment scores and forward velocity in affected side in the intervention group were related to theMontreal cognitive assessment scale scores,while no relativity showed in the control group.Conclusion:1.Baduanjin exercise for 24 weeks could-improve global motor function with PSCI.2.Baduanjin exercise for 24 weeks could improve balance function,myodynamia and reduce muscular tension,improve activities of daily living,global cognitive function,as well as gait function.3.The improvement of the global motor function and forward velocity in affected side were related to the improvement of global cognitive function.
