The Study On The Intervention Of Jun Huang Bao Chang Mixture On Malnutrition Of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease With Deficiency Of Lung And Spleen Qi

Objective:To observe the effect of Jun huang Bao Chang mixture on malnutrition of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)with deficiency of lung and spleen qi,and to explore its possible mechanism.Methods:Seventy-two patients were randomly divided into two groups: treatment group(n = 36)and control group(n = 36).The treatment group was treated by routine therapy combined with Jun huang Bao Chang mixture and the control group was treated with routine therapy.After 3 months,the TCM symptoms,nutritional status were compared between the two groups.observation index including TCM symptom score,micronutrition evaluation method(MNA)score,anthropometric index(Body weight,body mass index.),biochemical index(Serum albumin,prealbumin,lymphocyte count,hemoglobin).Results:(1)71 cases of patients with complete clinical observation,TCM symptoms,treatment group total effective rate was 88.6%,control group total effective rate was69.4%,two groups of total score changes before and after the treatment are statistically significant(P < 0.05),the treatment group improved more significantly than the control group(P < 0.05);Among the single symptoms,the gastrointestinal tract related symptoms(anorexia,epigastric fullness,abdominal distension,diarrhea)were compared,the treatment group was statistically significant(P<0.05),the control group had no statistical significance(P>0.05);After treatment,there was no significant difference in coughing,shortness of breath and emaciation between the two groups(P>0.05);(2)The MNA score improved in the two groups before and after treatment,and the improvement in the treatment group was more significant.The treatment group had statistically significant difference compared with the control group(P<0.05);(3)Body measurements,Wwight index(Wt),Body mass index(BMI)were slightly improved in the two groups before and after treatment,but there was no statistically significant difference(P>0.05);(4)The biochemical indicators of nutritional assessment,Serum Albumin(ALB),Prealbumin(PA),Lymphocyte count(TLC)and Hemoglobin(Hb)were statistically significant in the treatment group before and after treatment(P<0.05),while the control group was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion:Jun Huang bao Chang mixture can improve the nutritional status of COPD patients with deficiency of lung and spleen qi,and improve the TCM symptoms of this kind of patients at the same time.The mechanism may be that Jun Huang bao Chang mixture invigorates spleen and qi,improves the gastrointestinal function of such patients,and then promotes the digestion and absorption of nutrients.
