Objective: To evaluate the oral life quality of patients with temporomandibular disorders(TMD)and to explore the relationship between psychological factors and temporomandibular joint disorders.METHODS:A total of 350 patients diagnosed as TMD diagnosed by RCD/TMD biaxial diagnosis were selected from the First Af filiated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University,the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University and the Affiliated Hospital of Shihezi University as t he observation group and a total of 299 cases were selected from the the doctors and internship graduate students of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Me-d ical University and the undergraduate students at Xinjiang Medical University as th e control group.Questionnaires were conducted using the Oral Health Impact Sca-l e(OHIP-14).The statistical data were collected and then were analyzed by SPSS 17.0.Results:The OHIP-14 scores of the observation group were(12.68±8.47),and t-he OHIP-14 scores of the control group were(6.48±6.71).The scores of 14 ite-ms in the observation group were higher than those in the control group,and there were no significant difference(P>0.05)except for item 2 "taste deterioration" and item 12 "difficult to complete daily work" and there were significant differences i n the scores of the other 13 entries.The patients in the observation group were classified by RCD/TMD axis ? diagnosis.It shows that the patient's fascia pain sc ores were(13.23±9.06)points,the patient's fascia pain and mouth restricted scores were(14.00±7.90)points,the patient's recoverable articular disc anterior displaceme nt scores were(10.88±7.33)points,the patient's unrecoverable articular disc-displa cement and without mouth restricted scores were(15.42±8.66)points,the patients' joint pain scores were(14.91 ± 7.33),the patients' osteoarthritis scores were(17.78±9.36),the patient's osteoarthrosis scores were(6.59±9.78)points.Conclusion:TMDhas a significant effect on the the patients' life quality and more obvious impact o n the patient's psychology and physiology.
