Application Of Ultrasonic Bone Curette On Each Segments Intervertebral Foraminoplasty

Objective: To explore and analyse the feasibility and efficiency of using ultrasonic bone curette to do foraminoplasty on each segments.Methods: Three cadaveric spines(age:50-61 years old;height: 165-171cm)was dissected,which was established as a model of lumbar intervertebral foramen osteal sternosis.Intervertebral foraminoplasty were performed for different segments(L1-2,L2-3,L3-4,L4-5,L5-S1)using the ultrasonic bone curette in vitro.Accumulated working time was recorded and preoperative and postoperative middle foraminal width was measured with vernier caliper.The efficiency of two graded intervertebral foraminoplasty was calculated and analysed by SPSS21.0.Results: The sagittal distance of removed superior articular process and working time were increasing from L1-L2 to L5-S1(15.92±5.29min;18.74±0.96min;19.2±0.87min;20.31±2.14min;25.18±6.13min)(Ptrend=0.0178),but the difference of which was not significant.(P=0.3022)There was no significant difference on working efficiency(0.25±0.09mm/min;0.22±0.02mm/min;0.24±0.02mm/min;0.26±0.03mm/min;0.24±0.08mm/min)between each segments.(P=0.9879)The sagittal distance of removed superior articular process and working time were less on the first graded foraminoplasty than the second graded foraminoplasty(4.64±0.95 mm,19.87±3.12 min vs 6.98±0.42 mm,30.64±3.57),the difference of which was significant.(P<0.01)There was no significant difference on working efficiency(0.25±0.07 mm/min vs 0.23±0.11 mm/min)between two procedures.(P>0.05)Conclusion: The intervertebral foraminoplasty was able to be achieved using the ultrasonic bone curette.And the working time of each segments is increasing.But there was no significant difference on the working time and efficiency between each intervertebral foramina.And there was no significant difference on working efficiency between two procedures...
