A Retrospective Study Of External Application With Zijin Ding Plus Sihuangshuimi On The Treatment Of Subacute Thyroiditis

ObjectiveThrough the collection and statistical comparison of outpatient medical records,analyze thedifference of the efficacy on zijin ding plus sihuangshuimi combined with western medicine and simply oral Western medicine on the treatment of subacute thyroiditis,aiming at studying whether external treatmeant of traditional Chinese medicine has certain advantages to treat subacute thyroiditis and try to develop the field of new treatment on this disease.MethodsAccording to the standard selection oftreatment information that the patients with subacute thyroiditis accompanied by thyroid pain treated in Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese medicine clinic from 2010 Feb to 2017 Feb,via retrospective analysis and based on different treatment methods,they were divided into A and B groups.Group A is zijin ding plus sihuangshuimi combined with Western medicine(Tune Zijindian 10 dian plus appropriate amount of sihuangshuimi into a thin paste,evenly applied to the front of the neck,once a day,2 to 3 hours).Group B is simply the treatment of oral Western medicine which is called Indomethacin or Prednisolone acetate.Take record of the changes of symptoms and signs before and after treatment for patients in both groups.Compare the laboratory indicatorssuch as the changes of thyroid function,ESR;The difference of thyroid enlargement classification,situation improvement of thyroid pain and required time in two groups,etc.All data was entered into EXCEL form and used EXCEL,SPSS 19 software for statistical analysis to get the conclusion and results.Result1.The efficacy of the disease: Group A(Zijindian + Sihuangshuimi+ Oral Western medicine treatment)Total efficiency was 98.1%,Clinical control 15,Significant efficacy 28,With efficacy 8,No efficacy 1;Group B(Oral Western medicine treatment)Total efficiency was 90.2%,Clinical control 6,Significant efficacy 15,With efficacy 25,No efficacy 5.Group A's total efficacy is better than group B(P<0.05)2.The treatment period: Group A's average treatment period is 106.54±78.97 days,Group B's average treatment period is 157.98±109.12 days,Group A's treatment period is shorter than group B.3.The efficacy of TCM: For both groups,the symptoms of Chinese medicine have been significantly improved after treatment,the efficacy of TCM is 100%,no invalid cases.Group A: Clinical recovery 35,significant efficacy 16,with efficacy 1;Group B: Clinical recovery 22,significant efficacy 22,with efficacy 7.Group A's efficacy of TCM is better than group B(P<0.05)4.The situation of Thyroid pain: Group A with 50 cases totally relieved the pain which reaches 96%;Group B is 37 cases which reaches 72%,neither of the two groups with unimproved cases,there is obvious difference in comparison.In average the pain relief time in the Group A is 31.81±19.44 days shorter than in the Group B.Group A's improvement of thyroid pain is better than Group B(P?0.05).5.Situation improvement of thyroid enlargement: In average the pain relief time in the Group A is 41.75±38.31 days,and Group B is 92.69±98.64 days.Group A's period is shorter than Group B.6.The antipyretic time in group A was shorter than that in group B.However,the time comparison was without statistical significance due to T-test was P >0.05.After treatment both groups' thyroid function and ESR were improved comparing with the situation before treatment.As P <0.05 in the Wilcoxon analysis by the rank sum test,the laboratory results of the two groups is withstatistical significance.Above all,the treatment efficacy of Group A(Zijindian + Sihuangshuimi+ Oral Western medicine treatment)is better than that of Group B(Oral Western medicine treatment).ConclusionThe efficacy of Zijindian plus Sihuangshuimi combined with oral western medicine is better than the way simply using oral Western medicine on thetreatment of subacute thyroiditis.Combined external treatmeant of traditional Chinese medicine has certain advantages in treating this disease.It can significantly improve or eliminate symptoms of thyroid pain and other clinical,reduce thyroid enlargement,shorten the course of treatment,advancing the laboratory index recovery.Then the use of hormones can be reduced which can also avoid the side effects of it.In additional,the cost is low and easy to operate.Therefore it is worthy of clinical promotion.
