ObjectivesTo understand the status of smoking behavior and the factors that may affacts smoking behavior of junior middle school students in Yongqiao district,Suzhou city,and to explore the effective ways to enable students from the smoking behavior,so as to provide basic information for future intervation studies.MethodsAccording to the characteristics of middle school students,refer to the WHO"Global Youth Tobacco Survey"questionnaire,by cluster stratified sampling,6 junior middle schools in Yongqiao District of Suzhou city(2 of which were key middle schools in AnHui province),3-4 classes were randomly selected in each grade,a total sample of 4017 students from 60 classes were selected to the anonymous questionnaire.Results1 The basic situation of the investigation object and the status of smoking behaviorThe survey issued a total of 4017 questionnaires,4001 questionnaires were took back,3955 valid questionnaires,the effective rate was 98.5%.The boys were 2024(51.2%),1931 girls(48.8%).There were a total of 269 smokers,the overall smoking rate was 6.8%,lower than the 2005 national youth health risk factors monitoring data11.5%.231 boys(11.4%)and 38 girls(2%),boys were higher than girls(?~2=139.08,P=0.000).The total number of urban students was 2616(66.1%),188 smokers(7.2%);1339 rural students(33.9%),and 81 smokers(6.0%);there was no significant difference(?~2=1.807,P=0.179).2 The condition of handling the knowledge of tabaccoSurvey results show that the pass rate of tobacco knowledge was 61.01%,with an average score of 6.39±1.13.Students have a good understanding of general knowledge of tobacco,the correct answer rate was highest in terms of wether smoking is harmful to health(83.2%),but the professional knowledge is poor,such as what diseases smoking may cause,the accuracy rate was 41.8%,and only 30.1%of the students knew the main component of tobacco.3 Smoking behavior featuresSurvey results show that 53.1%of the students obtained the first cigarette from the peers;the main reason for smoking were curiousness,with a rate of 40.9%;and 43.2%of the students said what they most concerned about was the price of tobacco,only13.7%of the students were most concerned about the health hazards of smoking.4 Single factor analysis of the studyChi-square tests indicated that gender,grade,pocket money,the nature of the family,parents remind,the father's education level,parents smoking,peer smoking,whether left behind adolescents,access to Internet cafes,tobacco knowledge,academic achievement are influence factors.The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).5 Multivariate analyses of the studyLogistic regression analysis showed that male,single-parent families,Left-behind Adolescents and parents often smoking,father with low education level,peer smoking,exposure to Internet cafes are the risk factors of smoking(P<0.05),and low grade,less pocket money,better academic achievement,better tobacco knowledge is a protective factor of smoking(P<0.05).ConclusionFamily environment is an important influence factor of smoking in Yongqiao district,the government,schools need to strengthen communication with the parents of students,and more targeted intervention should be carried out.
