Objectives This study based on the cross-sectional survey in junior high school students‘ smoking condition and given priority to with peer education intervention in the unique ethnic minority areas in Gansu province.(1)Understand the unique ethnic minority areas present situation of smoking and tobacco related knowledge in junior middle school‘s students in Gansu province;(2)Analyze the influence factors of junior middle school students smoking in investigation,in order to establish a perfect long-term intervention mechanism provides guidance;(3)Evaluate the intervention effect of the peer-based intervention system in the survey area,and explore the tobacco control intervention system suitable for junior high school students in the region;(4)According to the results,formulate and enrich the region tobacco control intervention strategies in junior high school students,could provide effective theoretical and practical support for school smoking;(5)Through the youth tobacco control,reduce the smoking rates of survey area,decrease the occurrence of tobacco-related disease and contribute to health and poverty alleviation.Methods During September – November in 2015,select three unique minority in Gansu province-Dongxiang nationality,Bonan nationality,Yugur nationality where the county’s junior high school students as the object of study.Select 4 middle schools in each county,select seventh and eighth grade students in every high school,draw the same number of classes as the intervention group and the control group in each class,Forming the survey sample.Take the form of questionnaire,complete the survey before the intervention by an investigation team composed of students from the Gansu Provincial Health Education Institute and the Lanzhou University School of Public Health.In December,2015-December 2016,in the extraction of intervention group of students selected class 4-6 peer educators to implement peer interventions,combined with the teachers and parents auxiliary intervention,starting an intervention for a period of 1 year,the control group does not take any measures.In January 2017,completed the survey after the intervention.The two surveys using the same questionnaire.Research content mainly includes the general demographic data,tried smoking situation,Smoking status and tobacco related situations.Data entry with Epidata3.0 software and Excel software,statistical analysis using SPSS21.0 software.Depending on the type of data and analysis purposes,using statistical description,chisquare test,single factor and multiple factors Logistic regression and other methods for statistical inference.Inspection level for ? = 0.05.Results 1.The overall situation of smoking and its influencing factors in junior middle school studentsThe smoking rate of junior high school students in three minority counties was 24.6%,present smoking rate is 11.7%.In male group,try smoking rates is 33.5%,present smoking rates is 12.3%;In the famale group,try smoking rates is 11.4%,present smoking rates is 3.5%.Male,senior,Tibetan,parents smoking,pocket money too less and too much,friends smoking,the man who think that smoking makes young people more attractive,Social places smoking makes people more comfortable and so on,are the risk factors for smoking among junior high school students.While Hui nationality,pocket money moderate and the man who think that once you start smoking will be difficult to quit are smoking protection factors.2.The side of junior high school tobacco "knowledge"In the case of knowledge of tobacco-related knowledge,the top three are answered correctly: Secondhand smoke is greater than smoking(79.3%).Knowing that smoking is associated with lung disease(78.9%).Knowing that smoking is associated with various cancers(66.2%).In the case of tobacco-related attitudes,the top three who hold the correct attitude are: Sure that the smoke that someone else smokes will endanger yourself(87.6%).Consider that smoking can make people in the celebration,party or other social occasions more uncomfortable(75.2%).Sure that it is hard to quit once smoking starts(60.1%).In the case of tobacco-related behavior,the behavior of the correct behavior is followed: Endorse the smoking hazard to health,(later)determined not to smoke(85.9%).Consciously avoid secondhand smoke(83.9%).Refuse friends‘ cigarette(77.2%).3.In the case of peer intervention-based intervention evaluationInterventions were effective in controlling junior high school students’ attempts to increase smoking rates,reducing the risk of smoking in 2.1% of junior high school students.Interventions were effective in reducing the current smoking rate of junior high school students.The implementation of interventions reduced the smoking rate by 3.6% for junior high school students.At the same time,interventions were effective in reducing the number of smokers and daily smoking trips for smoking junior high school students,respectively,by 29.2% and 35.5% respectively.In addition,the implementation of interventions to improve the junior high school students related to tobacco "know the letter" also play a significant role.Conclusions 1.The smoking rate of junior high school students in Gansu Province is higher than that of the whole country and the province,and the smoking rate is higher than that of the whole country and the province.2.The main influencing factors of smoking in junior high school students in Gansu Province were gender,nationality,grade,pocket money,parents’ smoking situation and smoking situation.Which boys,senior,Tibetan,only mother smoking,smoking around,thinking that smoking makes young people more attractive to junior high school students smoking risk factors,parents do not smoke and the man who think that once started smoking will be difficult to quit smoking is smoking protect factor.3.The overall level of tobacco-related "knowledge and order" of junior high school students in Gansu Province is lower than that of national and provincial average.4.The interdisciplinary system based on peer education has a certain effect on the control of smoking behavior in junior middle school students and the reduction of smoking behavior and the overall level of tobacco-related "knowledge-based".
