Research On The Development Strategy Of A Three Grade Hospital From The Perspective Of PESTEL Analysis

Objectives:1.To summarize the reform of public hospital and hierarchical medical system in the context of reform of the medical and health system.2.To generalize the development status of hospital from factors of the infrastructure,service supply capacity and technical force.3.To analyze and estimate the hospital macro strategic from the political,legal,economic,social,environmental and technical factors.4.To analyze the advantages,disadvantages,external opportunities and threats of the hospital by using methods of the SWOT situation analysis and the quantitative strategic planning matrix(QSPM),complete the strategic matching,finally make the strategic choice.5.According to the development requirements of the hospital,the corresponding measures should be taken t--o meet the situation.Methods:1.Historical documentation: the data were obtained from the explored literature through the periodical,network and library resources.2.Stakeholder interviews: investigator interviewed relevant people in hospital about the current situation of the hospital and the reform measures.3.Soft science analysis: PESTEL analysis model is used to analyze and judge the current hospital environment SWOT was used for the analysis of the strengths,weaknesses,external opportunities and threats.QSPM was used for strategic choice.4.Focus group discussion,the key factors were analyzed and evaluated by the relevant person in the vital departments of the hospital.Result:hospital was keeping good growth momentum in the aspects of construction,service capabilities and technical force.hospital had a leading position in the medical institutions of local province.In the current environment,private hospitals got rapid expansion,and the modern hospital management system was improved gradually.The proportion of social expenditure for health care had increased significantly.Competition in high quality medical elements had intensified.Hospitals were challenged by changes of the demographics and health needs.The order of hospital development strategyr: ST,SO,WT and WO strategy.At the same time,the hospital should make informationalized construction and precision management a high priority.Conclusion:According to the huge demand for medical services in the province,the hospital should increase the supply of medical services in the future.Strengthening the internal advantages should be the first step for hospital.It can reduce the external threat by expanding the academic advantages,using of brand and social influence and constructing of hospital group.Hospital should pay attention to the construction of talents,scientific research,teaching ability and the infrastructure.Hospital must upgrade to a higher level in aging society.Reducing the probability of medical disputes is an integral part of improving the medical quality.
