Objective To investigate the status of and the predictors of diabetes-related emotional distress of inpatients Diabetes Mellitus,to analyze correlation between diabetes-related emotional distress and self-management behavior,social support and coping styles;to explore the social support,coping style were mediator between diabetes-related emotional distress and self management behavior,to provide theoretical foundation of the intervention strategies and to improve the quality of life.Methods A convenience sampling method was received,240 diabetes inpatients were recruited during April to October 2016 from 3 grade-A tertiary hospitals in Yinchuan,China.The questionnaires included five parts: basic information,Diabetes Distress Scale(DDS),Summary Of Diabetes Self-care Activities(SDSCA),Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS)and Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire(MCMQ).The collected data was analyzed by description analysis,Logistic regression analysis and mediation effect analysis.Results1.Among the 240 patients with diabetes,163 had diabetes-related emotional distress,with the detection rate of 67.92%,101 had moderate distress,62 had severe distress.2.By the one-factor analysis and Logistic regression analysis results showed that lower family income,self-paying,with short disease course,had complications,receive treatment of other diseases,poor disease control,significantly decreased SDSCA score and SSRS score.In addition,yield coping style was a risk factors of diabetes-related emotional distress.3.By correlation analysis showed that there was a negative correlation between each dimension of diabetes-related emotional distress and blood sugar,foot care,objective support,and subjective support,and a positive correlation to yield coping style.4.Social support acted as the mediator between diabetes-related emotional distress and self-management behavior.Conclusion Diabetes-related emotional distress is prevalence in patients with diabetes.The risk factors of diabetes-related emotional distress include: educational level,family income,medical payment method,duration,complications,whether had other diseases,receive other disease treatment,diabetes management,self-management behavior,social support and coping styles.Social support plays an intermediary role in diabetes-related emotional distress and self-management behavior.
