Study On Relationship Between Social Support Coping Style And Mental Symptoms On In Nurses

With the development of society, the tasks and objectives of nurse have been profound changed. Nurses must enter society to play an important role in disease prevention, medical treatment, rehabilitation and improving the level of health. Nursing is one of the occupations with the biggest pressure in the medical care profession . The high strength working pressure can cause the nurse to have the work -out,being unstable mood,excited and indifferent to patient.The long-term pressure can also further affect nurse's healthy in mind and body.PurposeBy means of the questionnaire survey, nurse's psychologically healthy condition, adopting the society supports and coping style condition were apperceived in order to help raising the nurse psychologically healthy level, reducing the nurse pressure and correspondingly ,providing the administrative organization with the background of nurse's status.Methods1. Eight hundred nurses were enrolled and stratified from three general hospi tal in XIAN area .They were investigated with questionnaires such as SCL-90,SSRS,EPQ,SCSQ. Spss software was applied to analyze nurse's mental health status.2. On the basis of investigation ,logistic regression was adopted in multiple variation analysis to analys correlation factor of mental healthe .Results1. The study indicated that there were 37.03 percent of nurses whose SCL-90 rate was positive. The light degree account for 30.5 percent;Middle degree account for 6.28 percent; nurses with serious mentality problem account for 0.78 percent.2. Besides the factor of hostile ,the other factors had significant difference in nurses of different aged-groups;Nurses of different working-term groups have significant difference in Somatization,interpersonal sensitivity,Photic anxiety,Hostility and Psychotixism.3. Compared to day shift nurses, night shift nurses had significant difference in Somatization, Depression , Photic anxiety factors.Nurses of different qualifications groups had significant difference in the Somatization, Depression, Anxiety and other factors.4. There were more significant difference in the degree of Somatization between the charge nurse and general duty nurses;Nurses of different marital status have significant difference in interpersonal sensitivity,Anxiety,Psychotixism factors.5. There is a corelation between the psychologically healthy level and the conditions of social support as well as the coping styles.6. Logistic regression multiple variation analysis indacated that inside and outside, the marriage and negative coping are the main influencing factors to psychological symptoms.Conclusions1. General level of the mental health of nurses is not good enough。2. Mental health of nurses has diference in term of different duty,age and working term.3. There is a corelation between the psychologically healthy level and the conditions of social support as well as the coping styles.4. The inside and outside character, the marriage status and negative coping of nurses are correlativ to psychological symptoms .
