Objective: To observe the effect of breast massage on cervical maturation, duration of labour and lactation on different periods of pregnant women,to explore the safety and efficacy of breast massage, and to find the optimized time to intervene breast. Methods: 105 full term pregnant women, examined routinely and birth for the first time in the People 's Hospital of Qinghai Province dating from December in 2015 to December in 2016,were divided into two observer groups and control group at random in average numbers(each group for 35 cases). They are all provide with periodical pregnancy test, breast milk mission and postpartum routine care while the two observed group were offered breast massage under the instruction of the hospital staff, additionally. The observation group1(group 1)was offered breast massage since the beginning of pregnancy 37 weeks until delivery and the observation group 2(group2)were treated with the same breast massage from the beginning of pregnancy 38 weeks until delivery.Cervical score(Bishop score),duration of labour, gestational age at delivery, natural contractions, cesarean section, prenatal serum prolactin, and initial lactation time were compared among these three groups.Results:(1)Grades of the Bishop scores before delivery in group 1,group 2 and the control group were(8.14± 1.76),(7.2±1.47),(5.66±1.60),respectively,which were significantly different among the three group(P <0.05).(2)The time on duration of labour were(8.01±3.75)h in group1,(10.24±4.30)h in group 2,and(13.33± 3.65)h in control group, which differ significantly among the three group.(3)In aspect of the gestational age at delivery, the observation group are both earlier than the control group(P <0.05).(4)As for the Launching natural shrinkage rate, the observation group 1(80%)was significantly higher than the control group(51.4%),the difference was significant.(5)There are no significant difference in Cesarean section rate and neonatal outcomes among the three group(P>0.05).(6)The concentration of Serum prolactin is(215.86± 54.29)ng/ml in group 1 and(205.8 ± 57.25)ng/ml in group 2,these two groups are both higher than the control group whose concentration is(165.4±54.03)ng/ml(P <0.05).(7)In terms of time on initial lactation,The observation group 1(8.29±3.64)h and the observation group 2(8.93±3.98)h was significantly shorter than the control group(14.19±4.28)h(P <0.05).Conclusion: Breast massage, contributing to cervical ripening, launching the natural contractions, shortening the duration of labour and promoting lactation, are safety and efficiency, and worth of being generalized. Moreover,it is suggestive to conduct breast massage since 37 weeks for preferable effect on cervical ripening and shortening the duration of labour.
