| Objective: To describe the trend of mortality and life expectancy in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region by using the historical data of death monitoring system from CDC of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and demographic data from Statistical Bureau of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region during 2013-2015.To find the contribution of the life expectancy gap among different gender,different ethnicities and different causes of death.Methods: The data was collected from the Statistical Bureau of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and the Centers for Disease Control of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.The life expectancy of the total population,different gender and different ethnicities was calculated by the Chiang's life table.The contribution of the total population,different gender and different ethnicities to life expectancy gap was calculated by the method which called Arriaga decomposition.Results: Life expectancy of residents in the Ningxia increased 0.7 years from 2013 to 2015.The group of 55-79 years contributed 0.39 years to the change of life expectancy of Ningxia residents from 2013 to 2015.It had made a positive effect on the life expectancy of Ningxia residents which caused by circulatory system diseases,respiratory diseases,injuries and poisoning,resulting in an increase in life expectancy of 0.67 years,0.11 years,and 0.36 years respectively.Ningxia residents' life expectancy decreased 0.19 years and this is mainly due to 50 years of age or older.Both men and women in Ningxia had a longer life expectancy than before during 2013 to 2015,but the life expectancy of men was lower than women.The men's life expectancy was 74.82 years old,75.93 years old,75.36 years old and it increased 1.11 years during 2013 to 2015 while women's life expectancy was 79.81 years old,79.99 years old,80.14 years old during 2013 to 2015.The change of women's life expectancy was accompanied by a trend of increasing first and then decreasing,but it increased 0.15 years totally during 2013 to 2015.This trend was mainly caused by the group of 50 to 74 which the life expectancy gap between men and women.People between 50-74 years produced a gap of 2.16 year,2.15 years,1.91 years in the period of 2013 to 2015,but the gap was narrowing.The main cause of the gender differences in life expectancy was: external causes of injury and poisoning>circulatory system disease>tumor.Injury and poisoning produced gaps of 1.58 years,1.44 years,1.27 years during 2013 to 2015,while circulatory disease produced gaps of 1.54 years,1.40 years,and 1.16 years and tumor produced gaps of 1.15 years,1.18 years,and 1.15 years.Both Hui and Han people's life expectancy were increasing,but the life expectancy of the Han ethnicities was lower than that of Hui counterparts.The life expectancy of Han ethnicities was 76.85 years old,77.42 years old,77.82 years old while the Hui ethnicities' life expectancies was 77.54 years old,77.81 years old,77.87 years old during 2013 to 2015.The gap of life expectancy between the Hui and Han ethnicities was mainly caused by the age group older than 75 years.It made the gaps of 0.87 years,0.66 years,0.73 years between the life expectancy of the Hui and Han ethnicities.The circulatory system contributed 0.30 years,0.32 years,0.31 years,while the tumor contributes 0.42 years,0.16 years,0.23 years and the respiratory diseases contributes 0.28 years,0.18 years,0.12 years among the causes of the differences in life expectancy between Hui and Han ethnicities during 2013 to 2015.Conclusion: The life expectancy of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region residents increased continuously during the period 2013 to 2015 and it's mainly caused by the group of 55 to 79.The contribution of circulatory system diseases,respiratory diseases,injuries and poisoning to the life expectancy of residents in Ningxia is positive.The contribution of tumor to life expectancy is negative and it mainly concentrated on the middle-aged and older people over the age of 50.The gap of life expectancy between different genders in life expectancy of Ningxia residents mainly caused by the age group of 50 to 74.The main cause of the gap is: External causes of injury and poisoning>Circulatory system diseases>tumor.The effects of injury and poisoning and circulatory diseases on the gender differences in life expectancy of Ningxia residents are becoming narrower.The gap of tumor in the gender difference in life expectancy of Ningxia residents is increasing.In addition,the mortality of cerebrovascular disease,cancer mortality is increasing.The mortality of men's injury and poisoning is much higher than that of women while the mortality of women's suicide is much higher than that of men.The gap in life expectancy between Ningxia Hui and Han residents mainly caused by the age of people over 75 years.Circulatory disease,tumors and respiratory diseases also play a big role in the differences of life expectancy between Han and Hui people. |
