Diagnosis And Treatment Of Esophageal Junctional Cancer And Its Controversy

Esophagogastric junction carcinoma has unique anatomical position(the location of the esophageal squamous epithelium and the columnar epithelium of the stomach),this created its unique biological characteristics.We can not treat it as esophageal cancer,we also can not treat it as gastric cancer.Therefore,the definition and diagnosis of esophagogastric junction cancer has been controversial,and there is no uniform standard for its treatment.In this paper,we reviewed the recent progress to summarize the current situation and controversy in the definition,etiology,diagnosis and treatment of esophageal junctional cancer.
