The adenocarcinoma of esophagogastric junction(AEG)is a malignant tumor that occurs in the esophagogastric junction(EGJ)region.Because of its special pathogenesis,AEG is different from esophageal cancer and gastric cancer in terms of epidemiology and clinical features. In the field of digestive surgery,we have made some consensuses on the incidence, cause mechanism and surgical treatment of AEG.However, there are still many differences and controversies about its definition, classification, staging, operative approach, resection range, lymph node dissection, and neoadjuvant therapy. Therefore, this paper summarizes the new progress in research of AEG by reading the recent literatures at home and abroad, and explains the frontier findings of AEG in the form of review, which provides reference value for the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
