1.Objectives1.1 To explore the role experience of Emergency nurse specialist in Guangdong province.1.2 To translate the questionnaire which applicable for emergency nurse specialist.1.3 To compare the role of the emergency nurse specialist in the perceptions of medial staffs.2.Method2.1 Qualitative study: Phenomenological research on role experience of Emergency nurse specialist in Guangdong province.Phenomenological research of qualitative research and the Colaizzi-Phenomenological data analysis was used.Three focus groups,18 Emergency nurse specialists in Guangdong province were interviewed in-depth.2.2 Chinese version of the Nersion of Nurse Specialist Role QuestionnaireThe authorized Questionnaire was translated basing on the Brislin's translation and re-translation principle and adjusted after culture appraise and preprimary experiment.The reliability and validity of the Chinese version Questionnaire was tested.2.3 Quantitative study: The comparative study on the role of emergency nurse specialist in perceptions of medical staffs in 27 class 3A hospitals in Guangdong province.Doctors,nurse officers,nurse specialists,nurses in which the class 3A hospitals in Guangdong province were participated the survey with using the Chinese version Questionnaire.Of?Nurse Specialist Role Questionnaire?.3.ResultsQualitative researchFive themes were sublimated: role approval was greatly improved,role performance was unbalanced,part of the role performance was lower than expectation,role responsibilities and division of labor was not clear,role evaluation and performance management was unsound,role development was not clear.Chinese Version of the Nurse Specialist Role QuestionnaireThe Chinese version Nurse Specialist Role Questionnaire which divided into “Importance ” and “Frequency” parts,consists of 5 sections with 54 items and.The 5 sections include the role of consultation,education,research,administration and clinical practice.The Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.963 and the test –retest reliability was 0.859 of the “Importance ” part,The Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.970 and the test –retest reliability was 0.930 of the “Frequency ” part,according to test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version Questionnaire.Quantitative studyIn the “Importance ”part,the average score of the roles of emergency nurse specialist was as following: consultation(3.87±0.52),education(3.99±0.38),research(3.87±0.57),administration(3.78±0.50),clinical practice(3.91±0.53).There were significant differences(P?0.05)in the perceptions of importance of the 5 roles in medical staffs by Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA test.20 differences were significant(P?0.05)by using One-Way ANOVA test to compare the perceptions of medical staffs.In the “Frequency ”part,the average score of the roles of emergency nurse specialist was as following: consultation(2.66±0.52),education(3.97±0.37),research(2.50±0.68),administration(2.63±0.48),clinical practice(3.72±0.62).There were significant differences(P?0.05)in the perceptions of frequency of the 5 roles in medical staffs by Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA test.22 differences were significant(P?0.05)by using One-Way ANOVA test to compare the perceptions of medical staffs.4.Conclusion4.1 The role development of emergency nurse specialist should be based on the clinical practice,the post,mechanism of the management and occupational structure of Emergency nurse specialist should be established gradually.4.2 The Chinese version of Nurse Specialist Role Questionnaire had good reliability and validity to evaluate the role of nurse specialists.4.3 There were significant differences in the perceptions ofimportance and frequency of the consultation,education,research,administration and clinical practice roles of Emergency nurse specialist in medical staffs.The role of education performed best,thus the worst is administration.The perception of frequency of roles in nurse specialists was similar with nurses among the medial staffs.
