Objective: Through OQAS measurements of objective scatter index(OSI),modulation transfer function cut off(MTF cut off),Strehl ratio(SR),OQAS valuse(OV)under different environmental conditions,as well as wave-front aberration and contrast sensitivity(CS)of the patients after phacoemulsification and intraocular lens(IOL)implantation,to compare the visual and optical quality differences between spherical and aspheric IOL,and between different various aspheric IOL.Methods: A prospective non-random controlled study.A total of 227 eyes of 349 patients with age-related cataract underwent phacoemulsification with IOL implantation,divided into the Bausch & Lomb spherical IOL Akreos in 69 eyes(AK group),AMO spherical IOL AR40 in 67 eyes(AR40 group),Bausch & Lomb aspheric IOL Akreos AO(spherical aberration value 0?m)in 70 eyes(AO group),Alcon aspheric IOL SN60WF(spherical aberration value-0.20?m)in 71 eyes(SN60WF group),AMO aspheric IOL Tecnis ZCB00(spherical aberration value-0.27?m)in 72 eyes(ZCB00 group).At postoperative 3 months,the visual and optical quality of pseudophakic eyes were measured by the Optical Quality Analysis System(OQASTM?)of company Visiometrics in Spain's,the KR-1W aberrometer of company Topcon in Japanese,and the CSV-1000 contrast sensitivity tester of company Vector-Vision in American.The parameters of OSI,MTF cut off,SR,OV100%,OV20%,OV9%,wave-front aberration and CS were compared.Results: At 3 months after surgery,no significant differences were found in uncorrected visual acuity(UCVA)and best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)across the five groups(P > 0.05).For CS,there was no significant differences at the low spatial frequency(3cpd)(P > 0.05),but there are significant differences at the middle and high spatial frequencies(6cpd,12 cpd,18cpd)between spherical and aspheric IOL groups;the CS values was better in aspheric IOL group than spherical IOL group(P < 0.05),and were better in SN60 WF group and ZCB00 group than AO group in 12cpd(P < 0.05);there was no significant differences at the other spatial frequency between aspheric IOL groups(P > 0.05).For corneal higher-order aberrations,no significant difference was found at 4mm and 6mm pupil diameter between five groups(P > 0.05).There were significant differences between spherical and aspheric IOL in internal SA and ocular SA with 4mm pupil,and internal SA and ocular tHOA and ocular SA with 6mm pupil(P < 0.05);there were no significant differences in the higher order aberrations between the spherical IOL AK group and AR40 group(P > 0.05);there were significant differences between the 5 groups in internal SA and ocular SA with 4mm pupil,and in internal tHOA and internal SA and ocular tHOA and ocular SA with 6mm pupil(P < 0.05);there was no significant difference between the other high order aberrations(P > 0.05).For the parameters of OQAS(OSI,MTF cut off,Strehl ratio,OV100%,OV20%,OV9%),aspheric IOL is better than spherical IOL(P < 0.05);there were no significant differences between AK group and AR40 group and AO group(P > 0.05)or between SN60 WF group and ZCB00 group(P > 0.05).OSI values were better in ZCB00 group than AK group and AR40 group and AO group(P < 0.05).MTF cut off was better in SN60 WF group and ZCB00 group than AK group and AR40 group(P < 0.05).Strehl ratio was better in SN60 WF group and ZCB00 group than AK group(P < 0.05).OV100% was better in SN60 WF group and ZCB00 group than AK group and AR40 group(P < 0.05);OV20% was better in SN60 WF group than AK group and AR40 group and AO group,ZCB00 group is better than AK group(P < 0.05);OV9% was better in SN60 WF group and ZCB00 group than AK group and AR40 group(P < 0.05).Conclusion: A significant difference in visual quality were found between spherical and aspheric IOL groups postoperatively,and aspheric IOL groups were better than spherical IOL groups.AMO aspheric IOL ZCB00(spherical aberration value-0.27?m)and Alcon aspheric IOL SN60WF(spherical aberration value-0.20?m)are better than Bausch & Lomb aspheric IOL Akreos AO(spherical aberration value 0?m)on visual quality.there was no significant difference between the AMO aspheric IOL ZCB00 and Alcon aspheric IOL SN60 WF groups in OQAS parameters and CS.OQAS has unique OSI and other visual quality assessment indicators,can be more comprehensive and objective evaluation of the visual quality of cataract after phacoemulsification and aspheric IOL implantation.
