Study On Influences Of Ascending-descending Compatibility Of Guiding Medicinals Radix Platycodonis And Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae On The Efficacy Of Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction

Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction,originated from Correction of Errors in Medical Works written by Wang Qingren in Qing dynasty,mainly treats blood stasis in the chest(the house of blood).This formula is composed of Taohong Siwu Decoction and Sini Powder plus Jiegeng(Radix Platycodonis)and Niuxi(Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae),in which Taohong Siwu Decoction can activate blood,resolve stasis and nourish blood,Sini Powder can sooth the liver and regulate qi.Jiegeng as the guiding medicinal is added to run up into the chest,and Niuxi is added to guide blood stasis to run downward to promote blood circulation and dredge vessels.Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction,a commonly-used formula for activating blood to remove stasis,move qi and relieve pain,is extensively applied to treat various refractory diseases of internal medicine,surgery,gynecology and pediatrics,especially for cardiovascular diseases.This paper analyzes the compatibility characteristics of Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction,gives some examples about its clinical application,illustrates the evolution of meridian tropism theory and ascending,descending,floating and siriking theory,guides the relationship and differences of formula application,and attaches more importance to discuss the compatibility significance of Jiegeng and Niuxi in this formula.The compatibility characteristics of this formula are as follows:1.regulate qi and harmonize blood to simultaneously treat qi and blood;2.ascend the lucid and descend the turbid to harmonize qi movement;3.disperse the upper and dredge the lower.According to statistics,it is found that the current studies on Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction mainly focus on clinical application,pharmacological research and formula compatibility,whereas there are no reports about the influences of Jiegeng-Niuxi compatibility on the efficacy of the whole formula.Animal experiments are conducted in order to investigate and reveal the compatibility mechanism of Jiegeng and Niuxi in Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction,the influences on efficacy of the whole formula and their meridian tropism effect.The rats with qi stagnation and blood stasis are made with modeling method in the experiment,and are compared with other control groups after being treated with Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction.According to hemorheology,NO in serum,ET-1 in plasma,endothelial cell adhesion molecules and the level of cyclic nucleotide,the compatibility mechanism and meridian tropism effect of Jiegeng and Niuxi in Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction are confirmed.This study demonstrates that Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction as well as Jiegeng and Niuxi combined with each administration groups can indeed improve the condition of blood stasis by resisting endothelial functional disorders and affecting the expression of vascular endothelial cell adhesion molecules,and the influences among each administration group on the expression of different adhesion molecules are also different.The comparison between groups completely affirms that single application of Jiegeng has a bad function of activating blood,but Jiegeng-Niuxi compatibility can enhance the efficacy of activating blood in fact,indicating that Jiegeng and Niuxi have a mutual promoting relationship instead of mutual antagonism.The results also prove that Jiegeng has the function of guiding the medicinals to run up and can promote medicinal distribution in the heart and lung,whereas Niuxi has the function of guiding the medicinals to run downward and can increase medicinal distribution in the liver and kidney.Besides,single application or compatibility of Niuxi and Jiegeng usually exerts antagonistic effects,but in this formula,their compatibility plays synergy,this is the exquisite TCM compatibility.
