The Experimental Research Of Crude Rhubarb,Rhizoma Pinelliae Preparata And Dichroa Febrifuga On Ascending, Descending, Floating, And Sinking Properties In Animals

Objective: To investigate the ascending,descending,floating,and sinking propertiesof crude rhubarb, Ｒ hizoma Pinelliae Preparata,and Dichroa febrifuga by animalexperiment and to provide a new idea and method for the study on the ascending，descending， floating and sinking properties of traditional Chinesemedicines.Methods:Intestinal propulsion and intestinal volume tests were performed inmice to compare the effect on the digestive system between water decoctions of cruderhubarb,Rhizoma Pinelliae Preparata,and Dichroafebrifuga.Their effects on the bloodcirculatory system were compared by blood pressure and serum NO level tests performedin normal rats and microcirculation experiment performed in mice.Their effects on thecentral nervous system were compared by sleep time and locomotor activity testsperformed in mice. Their effects on brain-gut axis were compared byβ-EP changes andplasma AchE activity in rats.The ascending，descending，floating，and sinking propertiesof medicines were discussed according to the relationship with the internal organsfunction.Ｒesult: Crude rhubarb significantly promoted small intestine emptying in mice，activated the blood circulatory system，and excited the central nervous system andbrain-gut axis to a certain degree. Ｒhizoma Pinelliae Preparata had no marked effect onthe digestive system，but it activated the blood circulatory system and had a significantinhibitory effect on the central nervous system and significantlyβ-EP changes.Dichroafebrifuga had a marked inhibitory effect on the digestive system and brain-gut axis,and itactivated the blood circulatory system,but it had no significant effect on the central nervoussystem.Conclusion: Dichroa febrifuga shows ascending and floating properties，whilecrude rhubarb and Rhizoma Pinelliae Preparata show descending and sinking properties，according to the relationship with the internal organs function.
