Study On Curative Effect Evaluation By Using Andrews Six Elements For Completed Orthodontic Treatment Cases

Objectives:By assessment treatment outcome who completed their orthodontic treatment using Andrews Six Elements and American Board Orthodontic Objective Grading System.To judge the Andrews Six Elements whether can used as a new assessment system for the cases who completed their orthodontic treatment.And use Andrews Six Elements to explore the influences:gender,extraction and different brackets that may exert on the evaluation of orthodontic treatment outcome.Methods: 160 cases were selected from the patients who finished their orthodontic procedures in Kunming Medical University Affiliated Stomatological Hospital during the period ranging from 2013 to 2016.The retrospective finished cases were then examined according to Andrews Six Elements and the ABO-OGS and assigned scores for each tooth in each category,a composite category score and a total score.And the pass rate and potential pass rate of the finished cases were compared to Andrews Six Elements and the ABO-OGS by means of Chi-square test.After the cases were grouped by gender,extraction and brackets,t tests were employed to analyze the statistical discrepancies in total score and each category score between different groups.Results:The passing rate for evaluation of cases by use Andrews Six Elements that is 83.8 percent,but the passing rate for evaluation of cases by use ABO-OGS that is 86.3 percent,the differenees in the reach the standard of case between Andrews Six Elements and ABO-OGS by means of Chi-square test were of no statistical significance (P>0.05).The mean Andrews Six Elements score for the finished cases in Kunming Medical University Affiliated Stomatological Hospital in which the category of the Anteroposterior change in position of the incisors contribute the most,while the Core Discrepancy made up the least percentage in the total scores.In ABO-OGS,alignment and marginal ridges contribute the most,while interproximal contacts made up the least percentage in the total scores.The differenees in the total scores between female and male cases were of no statistical significance(P>0.05).But in the scores in the skeletal width change of the maxillary between extraction cases and none extraction cases were of statistical significance (P<0.05).In the scores in Anteroposterior change in position of the maxillary incisors and Bucco-lingual borders change of the mandibular arch and the skeletal width change of the maxillary between DamonQ self-ligating bracket cases and MBT bracket cases were of statistical significance (P<0.05).The cases with DamonQ self-ligating brackets showed lower scores than those of MBT brackets,and whose scores in the Bucco-lingual borders change of the mandibular arch , the skeletal width change of the maxillary and Anteroposterior change in position of the maxillary incisors were significantly lower than those of the MBT brackets group.Conclusions: Andrews Six Elements had keeped pace with ABO-OGS by assessment treatment outcome who completed their orthodontic treatment.Andrews Six Elements can be used as a new assessment system used for assessment treatment outcome who completed orthodontic treatment. And it had a particular advantage in the control of facial profile.,and just have completed material of the cases who completed their orthodontic treatment it can measures, it's convenient to spread and use. As far as the cases who uncompleted their orthodontic treatment is concerned,be control of Alignment and Bucco-lingual inclination is very important. The total treatment efficiency between female and male cases wereof no difference, but in the skeletal width change of the maxillary between extraction cases and none extraction cases may have an effect on the case who completed their orthodontic treatment. The case who used DamonQ self-ligating brackets that may have a good adjustment for the Bucco-lingual borders change of the arch.
