ObjectivesThe purpose of this study was to investigate the present situation of subjective well-being and its influencing factors in ischemic stroke patients, and explore the relationship between subjective well-being and anxiety, depression, social support and self-efficacy.In order to provide reference basis for further development of nursing interventions to enhance the subjective well-being and improve the quality of life of patients with ischemic stroke.MethodsFrom August 2015 to April 2016,a cross-sectional study was performed in the Department of Neurology of two general hospital,a city in Henan Province.A total of 273 patients with ischemic stroke were surveyed with the general information questionnaire,Memorial University of Newfoundland Scale of Happiness(MUNSH),Hospital Anxiety and Depression(HADS),Social Support-Rating Scale(SSRS)and Self-Efficacy Scale for Chronic Disease(SESCD).The database was established by Epi Data 3.1 and the data were analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Science(SPSS)17.0 software. The independent t-test and the one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA)were used to assess the subjective well-being differences in general information.Pearson's correlations coefficients was used to analyze the correlations between continuous variables.Multiple regression analysis was used to find out which characteristics were independently associated with subjective well-being.Results 1 The status of subjective well being in patients with ischemic strokeThe mean scores of MUNSH was(33.01±10.71),the subjective well-being of the patients was in the middle level. The mean score of positive affect(PA),negative affect(NA),positive experiences(PE)and negative experiences(NE)were(6.45±3.43),(2.47±2.91),(8.90±3.81)and(3.89±3.14),respectively.2 The single factor analysis of subjective well being in patients with ischemic strokeThe MUNSH was different in patients with ischemic stroke with different age, work status, limb dysfunction and activities of daily living(P<0.05).The study showed that participants aged 75 years and older, resignation or retirement,no limb dysfunction, activities of daily living independently had higher MUNSH scores.3 The status of anxiety, depression, social support and self-efficacy in patients with ischemic strokeThe mean scores of HADS was(11.10±6.85),and the mean scores of anxiety was(5.24±3.60),the incidence of anxiety was 25.6%;the mean scores of depression was(5.85±4.24),the incidence of anxiety was 34.4%.The mean scores of SSRS was(37.20±6.54),and the mean score of objective support, subjective support, and the utilization of support were(7.93±1.98),(22.03±4.59),(7.24±2.34),respectively.The scores of social support and dimensions were lower than those of the domestic norm, and the difference had significant difference(P<0.05).The mean scores of SESCD was(6.01±1.88),patients' self-efficacy was in the middle level. The mean score of symptom management self-efficacy and common disease management self-efficacy were(5.70±2.10)and(6.64±2.25).4 The relationship between subjective well-being and anxiety, depression, social support and self-efficacyThere was remarkable negative relevant relations between subjective well-being and anxiety, depression, correlation coefficient r=-0.649,P<0.01;there was a positive correlation between subjective well-being and social support, correlation coefficient r=-0.215,P<0.01;there was a positive correlation between subjective well-being and self-efficacy,correlation coefficient r=-0.285,P<0.01.5 The multiple regression analysis of subjective well-being in patients with ischemic strokeMultiple regression analysis showed that age, limb dysfunction, activities of daily living, anxiety and depression, the utilization of support, the common disease management self-efficacy were influencing factors of subjective well-being.Conclusions1 The subjective well-being is in the middle level in patients with ischemic stroke.2 Age,limb dysfunction, activities of daily living, anxiety and depression, the utilization of support, the common disease management self-efficacy are influencing factors of subjective well-being in patients with ischemic stroke.3 The subjective well-being is negatively related to anxiety and depression, positively related to social support and self-efficacy among ischemic stroke patients.
