A Controlled Study On Aripiprazole Combined With Electronic Biofeedback Therapy In The Treatment Of First-episode Chronic Schizophrenia

Objective:To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of aripiprazole combined with electronic biofeedback therapy in the treatment of first-episode chronic schizophrenia.Methods:A total of sixty patients firstly diagnosed as chronic schizophrenia were randomly divided into aripiprazole combined electronic biofeedback therapy group(treatment group,n =30)and aripiprazole group(control group,n =30).Clinical effectiveness was assessed with the positive and negative syndrome scale(PANSS),cognitive function with stroop color-word test and the attachment test(TMT)and social performance with personal and social performance scale before treatment and at the end of the 8 week.Results:Thirty patients of the treatment group and thirty patients of the control group had completed the course.Effectiveness of treatment group was superior to control group at the end of the 8 week by PANSS negative scores' 25.3±3.9 and 27.1±3.6 subtraction(P<0.05)but not positive scores' 11.5±4.2 and 12.5±4.6 subtraction(P>0.05).Cognitive function significantly improved compared with control group by stroop word test 91.32±14.2,stroop color test 60.05±13.2,stroop color-word test 39.12±9.8,TMT-A 37.25±11.34,TMT-B 83.21±22.12.Social performance improved compared with control group by PSP 74.68±14.3.(P<0.05).Conclusion:Aripidrazole combined electronic biofeedback therapy are effective in the treatment of chronic schizophremia,especially in the improvement of negative symptoms,cognitive function and social performance.
