Aripiprazole Combing Tandospirone Can Improve Cognitive Function Of Female Schizophrenic Patients

Objective To evaluate the effect of aripiprazole combing tandospirone in cognitive function with female schizophrenic patients.Methods A total of one hundred female patients with schizophrenia were randomly divided into the controlled group (aripiprazole combing tandospirone) and the matched group (aripiprazole).The dosage of aripiprazole was5mg/day in the beginning, then added to20mg/day two weeks later, the maximum dose is30mg/day. The dosage of tandospirone was5mg/day to30mg/day. Clinical efficacy was evaluated by Positive and Negative Sympotoms Scale(PANSS) at baseline and8weeks. Cognitive function was assessed by Wisconsion Card Sorting Test(WSCT) and MATRICS Consensus Cognitive in Schizophrenia (MCCB). Emergent symptom Scale (TESS) was assessed during treatment. Using SPSS17.0to analysis the database.Results (1)47patients were studied in the controlled group,3cases fell off.44patients were brought into discuss,6patients dropped. There was no significant different of onset age, age of first hospitalization, current age, level of education, the scores of PANSS and cognitive test before the treatment. The total and other factors’ scores of PANSS were all lower than those in baseline. At the same group,the scores were significantly lower than those in baseline after treatment (P<0.01),but there was no difference between the two groups at the same time.(2) By comparing these two groups’MCCB at different times in the same group or those at the same time in different groups before and after treatment, the scores of CPT-IP,SC,HVLT-R,DS,BVMT-R,CF,MSCEIT-ME in these two groups were all significantly higher than those in baseline (P<0.05or0.01).The scores of CPT-IP,SC,HVLT-R,DS,CF in controlled group were significantly higher than those in the matched group (P<0.05or0.01).The tests of SS,NAB-Mazes, CF, TMT were higher after the treatment, but there was no statistically significant (P>0.05).(3) By comparing these two groups’WCST at different times in the same group or those at the same time in different groups before and after treatment, the scores of Cc and Rc increased in the two groups(p<0.01),and Re, Rp, Rpe, nRpe decreased (p<0.05or0.01). The score of Cc, Rc, Re, nRpe in controlled group improved significantly than those in the matched group (p<0.05or0.01). Rf, Rf%, Fm, L-L%improved after8weeks, but there was no statistically significant(p>0.05).(4) Side effect:During the treatment, each group had adverse reactions. Patients in the matched group who had excited agitation were more than patients in the controlled group (p<0.05),other side effects were no significant difference.(5) Correlation analysis showed:The positive symptoms and additional symptoms were not correlated with the cognitive test. Negative symptoms were negatively related to CPT-IP,HVLT-R, SC, DS, MSCEIT-ME, the total score of MCCB (p<0.01),and negative symptoms were positive related to Rp and Rpe (p<0.01). Additional symptoms were negatively related to SC,MSCEIT-ME (p<0.05).The total scores of PANSS were negatively related to SC, HVLT-R, MSCEIT-ME, the total score of MCCB (p<0.01),positive related to Rp and Rpe (p<0.01). Level of education was negatively related to SC, HVLT-R., MSCEIT-ME, the total score of MCCB (p<0.05or0.01), positive related to Rp and Rpe (p<0.01).(6) By using regression analysis to analysis the factors that can influence the patients’cognitive function,the result showed that the main factors influencing cognitive function of schizophrenia were the level of education, the scores of negative symptoms (P<0.05).Conclusion1. Aripiprazole combing tandospirone or aripiprazole can improve the mental symptoms in patients with schizophrenia.2. Aripiprazole combing tandospirone can improve more cognitive function of female schizophrenic patients and decrease the side effect of excited agitation caused by only using aripiprazole.3. Total score of educational level, negative symptoms, the score of PANSS has significant correlation with cognitive function. The patients with low educational level and negative symptoms have significant cognitive disabilities.
