1 ObjectiveTo investigate the distribution and characteristics of heat-sensitized acupoints in patients with myopia, and to provide a reference for acupoint selection in the clinical treatment of myopia.2 MethodsWe selected 120 patients with myopia from the students in Anhui University of Chinese Medicine, who met the inclusion criteria and signed the informed consent.According to the classification criteria for true myopia and pseudomyopia set by Ophthalmology Branch of Chinese Medical Association in 1985,these patients were divided into true myopia group(n = 60)and pseudomyopia group(n = 60).However,2patients in the true myopia group were lost to follow-up,and 5 patients in the pseudomyopia group were lost to follow-up.A total of 113 patients, consisting of 58 cases in the true myopia group and 55 cases in the pseudomyopia group, were finally included in the study.Heat-sensitive moxibustion was used to detect heat-sensitive points and to determine the frequency of each heat-sensitized acupoint and the numbers of six heat-sensitization phenomena.3 Results3.1 The frequencies of heat-sensitized acupoints were as follows: Fengchi(70.69%),Ganshu(55.17%),Shenshu(53.45%),Yangbai(53.45%),Taiyang(51.72%),Taichong(44.83%),Xinshu(43.10%),Guangming(41.38%),and Zusanli(39.66%)in the true myopia group;Fengchi(72.73%),Taiyang(70.91%),Yangbai(58.18%),Ganshu(36.36%),Shenshu(36.36%),Taichong(34.55%),Xinshu(34.55%),Guangming(32.73%),and Zusanli(30.91%)in the pseudomyopia group.3.2 There were no significant differences between the two groups in the frequencies ofheat-sensitized Fengchi,Shenshu,Guangming,Yangbai,Zusanli,Taichong, and Xinshu points(P >0.05).The frequency of heat-sensitized Ganshu point was significantly higher in the true myopia group than in the pseudomyopia group(P <0.05),while the frequency of heat-sensitized Taiyang point was significantly higher in the pseudomyopia group than in the true myopia group(P <0.05).3.3 The numbers of heat-sensitization phenomena were as follows: heat expansion(129),heat penetration(78),heat transfer(26),deep heat without superficial heat(18),and distant heat without local heat(12)in the true myopia group;heat expansion(116),heat penetration(69),heat transfer(15),deep heat without superficial heat(14),and distant heat without local heat(10)in the pseudomyopia group.4 Conclusions4.1 In patients with true myopia, the acupoints most sensitive to moxibustion are Fengchi,Ganshu,Shenshu,Yangbai, and Taiyang. In patients with pseudomyopia, the acupoints most sensitive to moxibustion are Fengchi,Taiyang, and Yangbai.4.2 Among the acupoint heat-sensitization phenomena in patients with true myopia and pseudomyopia, heat expansion and heat penetration are most common, while distant heat without local heat, heat transfer, and deep heat without superficial heat are less common.
