Objective:To assess the therapeutic effect of KouMi decotion in treatment of recurrent aphthous ulcer(RAU)with Spleen Deficiency Heat Accumulation syndrome.Method:This research experiment was based on simple randomized, controlled, and unblind clinical trial principle. In total 60 RAU patients with spleen deficient heat accumulation syndrome were divided randomly into two groups.30 cases in treatment group were treated with Kou Mi Fang(KMF),while the other 30 cases in the control group were treated with Kang Fu Xin Ye,a topical cream. Each group was treated for 12 consecutive weeks. After 1 week of treatment,Western medicine signs and symptoms,Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome integral, etc were recorded.VAS score was calculated and analyzed to estimate severity of the condition of the patient.Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 22.0.Result:The clinical trial revealed that there was a significant statistical difference before and after treatment on disease activity, clinical signs, and pain score. On the aspect of TCM syndrome, all markers were improved more in treatment group than those in control group, where there was little change(P<0.05).The improvement on both Western medicine clinical signs in treatment group was much more obvious than those in control group. Conclusion:Both treatments revealed positive results on mouth ulcer symptoms and signs, but only Kou Mi Fang could successfully treat the Chinese medicine Spleen Deficiency Heat Accumulation syndrome.Kou Mi Fang also had a better effect on the three month follow-up,compared with Kang Fu Xin Ye.
