Objectives1.To understand the prevalence of postpartum depression in the elderly parturients in the general hospital of Jinan.2.To analyze the influencing factors of postpartum depression in the elderly parturients and the relationship between personality and social support.3.Attention should be paid to clinical doctors and nurses,so as to provide reference for the prevention and treatment of postpartum depression.MethodsThe present study was a descriptive and cross-sectional study. From May 2016 to October 2016,265 elderly parturients aged 2?7 days after delivery in the maternity ward of a Jinan ?-A-grade hospital were selected as study subjects.General Information Questionnaire,Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale(EPDS),Vulnerable Personality Style Questionnaire(VPSQ),and Social Support Scale(SSRS)were selected to investigate the subjects.Data analysis with descriptive analysis,chi-square test, independent sample test,Pearson correlation analysis was performed by SPSS 17.0.Results1.The EPDS score of 265 cases was 9.80±3.62 points,of which 43 cases were diagnosed as postpartum depression, and the incidence of postpartum depression was 16.22%with average score of 15.74±3.16 points. The average score of EPSD in 222 cases of non-postpartum depression was 8.65±2.36 points.2.The age, education, medical expenses payment, the first few births, occupation, the number of pregnant women to participate in school, who take care of the child significantly influence the rate of postpartum depression(P<0.05)but non-significance of income, living condition and neonatal sex(P>0.05).3.The relationship between postpartum depression and personality traits There were significant correlations between the EPDS,VPSQ,the susceptibility and the responsiveness scale(P<0.05),and the maternal VPSQ score of depression was significantly different from that of non-depressed maternal(P<0.05).4.The relationship between postpartum depression and social support Score of subjective support, support utilization and social support was lower in the postpartum depression group(P<0.05).Social support played an important role in the incidence of depression. The statistical analysis shows negative correlation between subjective support(r=-0.211,p=0.001),support utilization(r=-0.149,p=0.015),the total scores of social support(r=-0.231,p<0.001)and postpartum depression. The objective support and postpartum depression were not significantly correlated(r=-0.080,p=0.193).Conclusions1.The incidence of postpartum depression was high,chi-square test showed age of maternal, the education level, payment methods of medical expenses, occupation, number of births, the number of pregnant women participating in school, and who takes care of the child were significantly correlated with postpartum depression.2.The personality and postpartum depression of the elderly were significantly correlated."Vulnerable Personality Style Questionnaire "can be used as a predictive tool for postpartum depression to help health care workers to pay attention to the high-risk group.3.The social support and postpartum depression of the elderly were significantly negatively correlated for higher utilization with lower depression rate.To give the elderly full social support is an important means of preventing the postpartum depression.4.High risk factors should be detected early to take targeted interventions to decrease the rate of postpartum depression so as to improve the mental health.
