Objective: To investigate the knowledge and attitude of hospice care among nurses in Taizhou,to construct preliminary core training modules and intervention strategies.Method: The self-designed questionnaires were distributed to 275 nurses in hospitals of different grades in Taizhou to investigate their knowledge, attitude and practice of hospice care and to analyze the different influence factors,e.g.hospital grade, education level. Results: 1.The nursing staff in Taizhou showed lack of hospice care knowledge.Only 10% of the nurses had a very good understanding of hospice care.2.In terms of knowledge about hospice care, there was no statistically significant difference between different education levels and hospital grades(P > 0.05).As for the application of analgesics and side effects of morphine, there was no statistically significant difference among nurses in different hospitals(P>0.05),but it was correlated with education level(P<0.05).When it comes to the attitude toward death and the knowledge of euthanasia, there was no statistically significant difference among different levels of education(P>0.05).74% of the nurses in this study thought that there is much development space for hospice care. Conclusion: The nursing staff in Taizhou lacked knowledge about hospice care. However, they acknowledge the importance of hospice care in clinical work, and expect to receive related professional training. The findings of this investigation and analysis can provide data of reference for the preliminary construction of core training modules which are suitable for the region's hospice care.
