Objectives?Acknowledge nursing students' general situations, commitment, characteri stics, life satisfaction and social connection;?Analyze the influence of above factors to nursing students' professional commitment in terms of the way and to what extent;?Provide achievable intervention aiming at improving nursing students' professional commitment for curriculum development in nursing education. MethodsA quantitative sampling method was used in this study. The target population was 486 nursing students randomly selected from the freshman year to the senior year in the Nursing College of Zhengzhou industrial application Institution of Technology. The specific methods include general situation questionnaire, the nursing professional commitment scale, Student Life Satisfaction Scale, Chinese Five Personality Scale, and Social Link Scale. The data were analyzed by Statistical description, T test, analysis of variance, Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis. Results1. The overall professional commitment score of nursing students is 97.58±13.41. Each dimension on average is 43.57±7.29 in commitment willingness, 27.32±4.62 at nursing career choices, 14.41±2.35 in professional positive comments and 12.27, 1.87 in career value agreement leading to higher level comparatively. Regarding the Big Five-Personality Dimension, nursing students' scores in Neuroticism, Rigor, Pleasant, Openness and Extrovert were 23.81±7.24, 35.18±7.34, 36.27±6.50, 33.75±7.60 and 31.70±6.63 respectively.The score of social connection of nursing students was87.43±14.61, and the scores of social participation were 28.30±6.39, interpersonal communication 13.52±3.48 and interpersonal harmony 45.62±7.84. The social connection level of nursing students was high.The average score of nursing students' life satisfaction was 9.60±1.70; objective satisfaction was 4.64±0.74; subjective satisfaction was 4.96±1.30, were higher than the average 4 points.2. The result of single factor ANOVA showed that the differences contribute to statistical meaning in terms of nursing grade(P<0.001), nursing experience, career choice(P<0.001), the outside or the media(P<0.001), nursing school(P<0.001) and media's attention(P<0.001).3. According to Pearson correlation analysis, factors of social connection(r=0.341, P<0.001), life satisfaction(r=0.171, P<0.001) and Big Five-Personality were in line with nursing students' professional commitment regardless of neuroticism. Conclusions1. On the whole, the professional commitment of nursing students is in higher level compared with other domestic researchers' results.2. Nursing students' social connection and life satisfaction are relevantly in higher level.3. Nursing students' professional recognition, the reason for major choosing, and school's perspective on nursing and social attention will influence professional commitment.4.Social connection, life satisfaction and Big Five-Personality are closely relative to nursing students' professional commitment.
