Objectives To observe the treatment effects of GUIZHIJIAZHUFUTANG Modification on the treatment of wind-cold type of Cervical Spondylotic Radiculopathy. Methods Screening eligible for inclusion in the wind-cold type of Cervical Spondylotic Radiculopathy and randomly dividing into treatment group and control group. The treatment group received GUIZHIJIAZHUFUTANG Modification for treatment, 2 times a day after meals. The control group received the treatment of GENTONGPING particles according to the instructions. Both the treatment and control groups were treated for 14 days. Two groups of patients filled in patient information questionnaire, cervical spondylosis symptom scale and score sheet of tongue parameters before treatment and after treatment. Counting and analyzing the data with statistical methods, and comparing the treatment effects. Results Comparing within group before and after treatment, scores of cervical range of motion, pain and numbness index, duration of pain, pain frequency, tongue manifestation, spurling test, ability in working and life, overall health of two groups after treatment are significantly different with scores that before treatment(P<0.05). All scores of treatment group after treatment are better than that before treatment. The scores of tongue manifestation of control group after treatment are worse than that before treatment, and rest sores are better than that before treatment. Comparing between treatment group and control group after treatment, the scores of cervical range of motion, pain and numbness index, duration of pain, pain frequency, tongue manifestation, spurling test, ability in working an life, overall health of treatment group are significantly different with that belong to control group(P<0.05), and the scores are significantly better than that belong to control group. The total effective rate of treatment group is 86.7%, and the total effective rate of control group is 53.3%. The total effective rates between the two groups are obviously different(P<0.05), and the total effective rate of treatment group is obviously better than one of control group. The rate of improvement of treatment group is positive correlation with patient's tongue hypertrophy degree. Conclusions It's effective to treat wind-cold type of Cervical Spondylotic Radiculopathy with GUIZHIJIAZHUFUTANG Modification in improving the scores of cervical range of motion, pain and numbness index, duration of pain, pain frequency, tongue manifestation, spurling test, ability in working and life, overall health, and is more effective for patients who have water-dampness in bodies. Comparing with GENTONGPING particles, it is more effective and had no side effect.
