Effect Of Parents Edution On Oral Health Of Adolescents With Fixed Orthodontic Treament

Objective: To explore the effect of parental education on oral hygiene of adolescents with fixed orthodontic treatment.Methods: We randomly divided 60 adolescent patients with fixed orthodontic treatment into experimental group and control group, each group included 30 patients. The experimental group and the control group of patients and parents in the first visit to the detailed explanation of the diagnosis and treatment plan and health declaration, adequate communication between doctors and patients, inform the attention of the diagnosis and treatment, emphase the role of parents in the diagnosis and treatment, requires parents to urge young patients from time to time.The experimental group in the whole process of diagnosis and treatment in addition to visit full face face communication is referral interval in the weekly by telephone follow-up and SMS alerts, strengthen the education of parents. The control group without parents weekly intensive education. Recording two groups in a year of orthodontic treatment in oral health status, a week before the main record of orthodontic, orthodontic 3, 6, 9, 12 months of plaque index(plaque index PLI) and gingival index(gingival index(GI), compared two groups of numerical changes. And record the number of newly added teeth in one year of treatment.Results:The plaque index and gingival index in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group, and the results were statistically significant. The number of newly added dental caries in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group.Conclusion: Parental education can improve the oral health status of adolescents with fixed orthodontic treatment. So in the fixed orthodontic treatment in adolescents to parental education into the treatment category, can urge the favorable teenagers to keep oral hygiene status, is conducive to the diagnosis and treatment work smoothly.
