Objective:The aim of this study is to investigate the prevalence and correlative factors of depression after acute minor ischemic stroke. Methods:We collected the clinical data of 108 consecutive patients with acute minor ischemic stroke in the second hospital of shanxi medical university neurology department from January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2015. Then, we assessed whether patients had PSD.PSD was evaluated using Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV criteria and the severity of depression was evaluated by the Hamilton depression rating scale(HAMD). Patients were divided into PSD group and non-PSD group according to whether suffering from depression. We collected the whole data consisted of all patients, demographic and social information, previous lifestyle and biological characteristics. Then, we searched for the correlative factors, according to the univariate analysis and multiple logistic regression model. Results:The incidence rate of PSD after acute minor stroke was 19.4%. The proportion of mild, medium and major depression were 13.0%, 5.6% and 0.9%, respectively. By the univariate analysis, the occurrence of PSD after acute minor stroke was correlated with gender, character, level of education, deep white matter hyperintensities, chronic lacunar infarction and the number of risk factors for stroke. In multivariate logistic regression analysis, gender, character, deep white matter hyperintensities and the number of risk factors for stroke was the important predictors of PSD.Conclusion:The incidence rate of PSD after acute minor stroke was not low, and the majority of patients with PSD were mild and medium. The female, introversion, deep white matter hyperintensities and the number of risk factors for stroke may be the important predictors of PSD after acute minor stroke. At the same time, we should focus on mentality of patients with minor stroke who have above factors early.
