The Preliminary Development And Study On The Scale Of Positive Emotion And Xi

Objective To discuss the similarities and differences between the concept of emotions in TCM and psychology and try to combine positive emotion and Xi together to develop the evaluating scale for nurses. To design the scale which consist of two parts, one is to evaluate positive emotions in a period recently of the nurses, another to assess Xi for over or not, and then, to test the reliability and validity of it. and at last to form the scale which will help us get the positive emotional state of the subjects and measure whether the Xi is on a high level.Methods The references related to scale development of positive emotion and Xi zhi were searched and reviewed thoroughly, and then the item pool of the scale for further study was constructed. Those items were screened firstly through the discussion in tutors and our research group and then the inquiring form and the scale for expert consultation were formed. Delphi expert consultation method was used for two rounds, fifteen experts in each round, and thirty experts totally were consulted. the inquiring form and the scale for expert consultation were collected. The inquiring form and the scale for reliability and validity testing were constructed after studying on the advices. Questionnaire surveys were carried out for four rounds. Pre-questionnaire was design to get the time for filling the forms. In the second round, 276 cases were included. The items were optimized after the statistic analysis of the date. Construct validity was tested using factor analysis, reliability was tested through Cronbach's coefficient alpha, split-half reliability. In the last two rounds, 36 cases were questioned twice as interval of two-week in order to get the test-retest reliability. The scale of positive emotion and Xi for clinical application were formed at last through the test of reliability, validity and test-retest reliability.Result 1. Qing Zhi in TCM and emotion in psychology, although developed in different culture, share many common similarities. Xi in TCM and positive emotion of psychology can be put together to form a scale to test the state of Xi Zhi and positive emotion. 2. The scale of positive emotion and Xi consists of two parts, 18 items for positive emotion, with cronbach's coefficient alpha 0.742, split half reliability 0.726, test-retest reliability 0.813. 11 items for Xi, with cronbach's coefficient alpha 0.853, split half reliability 0.808, test-retest reliability 0.867, which means the reliability, validity and test-retest reliability of the scale are excellent.Conclusion This study provides a new way of research and a new method for the study of Xi in TCM. The overall reliability and validity of the scale has reached the standard of application. This newly developed tool will make the evaluation of positive emotion and Xi.
