ObjectiveTo explore the personality characteristics of the patients with hypertension, and analyze the influence factors of compliance of taking antihypertensive agents and the influence of personality characteristics on compliance of hypertensive patients, so that doctors could take different measures for the patients with different personality characteristics.Method(1) A total of144patients with hypertension attended this research from kangjian street community health center of xuhui district in shanghai. All subjects underwent the assessment of personality using the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Revised, short Scale for Chinese(EPQ-RSC). Descriptive analysis was used to observe form of the classification of personality.(2) Compliance in hypertensive patients was assessed by Morisky Medication Adherence Scale8-item version. And relative risk factors including gender, age, Education, profession before retirement, income monthly, payment, The type and frequency of medication every day, adverse effects, duration of disease the frequency of measure blood pressure and clinic follow-up, family care and price.were mesured by self-designed questionnaire. All patients divided into poor compliance groups and good compliance groups according to Morisky Medication Adherence Scale. Above relative factors were analyzed by Multivariate Logistic regression.(3) The Spearman correlation was used for analysis of personality characteristics and compliance in hypertensive patients.Results(1) The number of hypertensive patients with middle type Eysenck personality were the most, accounted for49.2%. In the aspect of the features of Eysenck spirit, the male hypertensive patients had significantly lower psychoticism scores than female patients with essential hypertensionfP<0.05). The male hypertensive patients had significantly lower psychoticism scores than normal individuals(P<0.05). The male and female hypertensive patients had significantly higher extroverision scores than normal individuals(P<0.05). (2) Compliance of patients with antihypertensive therapy at present is in the low level. The compliance rate was only29.9%. Medication compliance were associated with duration of disease and regular clinic follow-up.(3) There was significant difference between poor compliance patients and good compliance patients in taking antihypertensive agents in neuroticsim scores, and no significant difference in extroverision scores and psychoticism scores. The level of compliance of taking antihypertensive agents of had a negative correlation with the level of neuroticsim scores(r=-0.219, P=0.017), and no correlation with extroverision scores and psychoticism scores.Conclusion(1) Male patients with hypertension low psychoticism tendency. and the male and female patients with hypertension high extroverision tendency.(2) Medication compliance was associated with duration of disease and regular clinic follow-up. Poor compliance happened in longer disease duration and low follow-up frequency of patients with hypertension. Therefore, we must strengthen sickness education for patients with hypertension, and encourage patients to increase the number of visits. In the medication(3) Type N personality was associated with compliance.patients with type N personality which high extroverision tendency tend to be less emotional stable, and compliance is also worse. We carry out corresponding communications and measures in base of personality characteristics of the patients.
