Objective: The aim of the present study was to determine to what degree social and psychological patient variables could predict orthodontic compliance evaluated by orthodontists 6 months after the beginning of treatment.Method: Prior to beginning orthodontic treatment, 60 adolescent patients received three questionnaires to test their personality, self-consciousness and social and family variables of orthodontic. A 3-item instrument based on the study of Slakter et was choice to evaluate patient's compliance by orthodontists 6 months after the beginning of treatment. Result: The positive support from family, the outgoing personality significantly predicted good orthodontic compliance of adolescent patient early in treatment. Conclusion: The factors of parent and personality are the main factors which have a strong effect on patient's compliance. The psychological guidance in orthodontics treatment is necessary for adolescent patient.
