Diagnosis And Treatment Of Canine Babesiosis Infection

Canine Babesiosis is a kind of blood-borne protozoa disease caused by Babesia(Babesia spp.).Canine Babesiosis is widely spread in the world because the ticks are the intermediate host and the media of Babesia.With the current increase in the number of pet dogs,the incidence of Canine Babesiosis is increasing year by year,and it is becoming the common clinical disease of the country,especially the Northwest region.At the same time,Babesia infection can lead to anemia,a large number of blood loss even death in dogs,resulting in a serious economic loss of the dog.But the clinical diagnosis and treatment data of Canine Babesiosis is not much,making the diagnosis and treatment of the disease has not yet a better diagnosis and treatment system.Therefore,in order to provide more reference for the diagnosis,treatment,prognosis and prevention of clinical blood parasites in small animals,this paper takes 45 cases of dogs from May 2014 to April 2015 in Xi’an Pet Hospital to study the diagnosis and treatment of Canine Babesiosis,through the clinical examination,laboratory examination,biochemical examination,anti-Babesia treatment,blood transfusion treatment and other methods.The results showed that the proportion of Poodle,Pomeranian and Bichon Frise dogs was respectively large,and the age of dogs was 6 months to 5 years old,accounting for 77.90% of the total cases.The incidence of canine infection was different in different seasons.Among them,the incidence rate was 15.60%,17.80%,22.20 % and 24.50 % in April,May,September and October respectively.Clinical manifestations of visible mucosa were pale,urine color were yellow and body temperature were higher,taking the proportion of 100.00 %,66.67 % and 71.11 %.The scores of RBC,HGB,HCT and PLT decreased significantly in the blood test results,and Biochemical examination results in GOT,ALP and TBIL increased significantly.The difference between the two groups was significant(P <0.05).The combination of the two groups was significant(P <0.05).There were significant differences in RBC,HCT and PLT between the two groups(P <0.05);There was no significant difference between the transfusion group and the blood group(P> 0.05);There was no significant difference between the transfusion group and the albumin group(P> 0.05);There was no significant difference between the plasma group and the albumin group(P> 0.05).Conclusion: Canine Babesiosis is easy to relapse and has a high mortality rate.And 6 months to 5 years old dogs have the highest incidence,mainly in 4,5,9,10 months.Clinical examination calls it Babesia gibsoni infection.RBC,HGB,PLT decreased significantly;GOT,ALP,TBIL increased significantly.Diminazene Aceturate combined with Artesunate is the first treatment for canine treatment.The three methods of RBC,HCT and PLT were improved by the first use of blood transfusion,dog source plasma and albumin.The improvement of RBC,HCT and PLT was not significant.In addition,to prevent secondary infection and complications(such as MODS,DIC,IMHA,etc.)in the clinical treatment is of great significance.
