In the 1960 s,the LCC analysis method which is a kind of decision maker to economically analyze and optimize the design,basing on the entire-life-cycle cost and also an important method to evaluate the designed locomotive in conceptual design phase used by locomotive manufacturer,began to apply in the foreign countries.While the research and application of LCC analysis is later in Chinese manufacturing industry,especially in railway equipment,the research and analysis theory of LCC is inadequate.At present,the Chinese scholars have not reached a consensus on the definition of LCC in railway transportation equipment,and there is a little research on locomotive LCC evaluation model.Considering the above-mentioned facts and combined on the actual situation of Chinese locomotive manufacturing,this paper has given a definition of diesel locomotive LCC,analyzed the cost structure of entire life cycle in different phase and established a cost analysis model.HXN6 locomotive is a kind o f hybrid power locomotive with largest power in the world,which was successfully developed and manufactured by CRRC Ziyang Co.,Ltd.in the year of 2014.Because this locomotive is equipped with 1500 kWh battery,its acquisition cost is higher than that of normal shunting diesel locomotive.This paper bases on the established LCC model,much investigation and survey,collection and data preparation,the entire life cycle cost of HXN6 locomotive has been figured out,at the same time,the entire life cycle cost of HXN3 B and HXN5 B diesel locomotives has been figured out too,whose power rating and technology level is equivalent to that of HXN6 locomotive.After their comparison,the conclusion is that the HXN6 locomotive has LCC advantage and has characteristics of energy saving and emission reduction.With the increase of energy price caused by the worse global environmental pollution,fossil fuel material reduction and the energy shortage,the Chinese government would propose to develop the hybrid power locomotive with energy saving and environmental protection,instead of traditional diesel locomotives.
