China stays, currently,at crucial historical stage with comprehensive deepening reform and opening up,rapid acceleration in economic development as well as strenuous efforts to safeguard and improve people's livelihood for the purpose of promotion in both social harmony and sustained and stable development. As a major national economic artery,an important national infrastructure and a public transport, the railway plays a vital role in both economic and social development.Safety is,therefore, set as the upmost priority in the railway transportation production as the feature of the railway,to transport passengers and goods safely to the destination, determines. The leapfrog development in railway, however, results in the thorough exposure in contradiction between safety and production, efficiency and benefit as well. The problem of safe railway production has still remained unsolved, many methods have been taken though. The inferior quality of safety management, besides the staff's qualification and the equipment and facilities conditions,is also considered to be a critical factor. The management defects in safety may account as the main reason for frequent railway accidents.Based on the research on railway passenger car depot, this paper studies the vehicle system of the whole railway network in recent years, namely, accidents in common big fracture and its accessories, burning shaft axis cutting parts, brake failure and coupling separation failure. With the application of fault tree analysis method, the paper analyzes the fundamental causes of the accidents and then investigates the loopholes that exist in safety management in the car depot aiming for better improvements and higher efficiency in safety management.
