With the expansion of cities and the scarcity of land resources,China has fully entered the stage of urban renewal.Old residential districts account for the most of urban land.Some of old settlements,due to capital operation and construction quality,need to be renewal.The target of the residential area renewal covers various aspects such as living efficiency,living area,supporting management,living quality and living health.Most of the residential quality has reached the level of residents’ needs.Living health has become a part of the need for attention and promotion.Healthy living requires sufficient sunshine and comfortable ventilation.The introduction of relevant residential sunshine regulations also ensures sufficient sunshine in the settlements,however,the wind environment in the outer space of the residential districts is not noticed by the people.At the same time,air quality is deteriorating.As a major place for people’s daily activities,residential areas can improve the health of humans by improving local air quality.Therefore,the purpose of this paper is to analyze the potential of urban residential areas based on the quality of wind environment.The basic research idea of this paper is to first evaluate the wind environment quality of the existing residential areas in Nanjing,obtain the reference design principles and then carry out the renewed experiments in the actural old city.The second chapter of this article summarizes the three aspects of the research on the spatial pattern of urban residential areas in China,the relationship between habitat patterns and wind environment,and the research methods on wind environment quality,for the following simulation experiments and wind environment evaluation indicators choose the age of air laid the foundation.The third chapter,based on the combing of the development of residential areas in Nanjing,selected 14 cases of two types of residential areas to be renewed and newly built in Nanjing to carry out CFD wind environment simulation,and compared and analyzed the air age data of the evaluation cases.The residential area design strategy based on the quality of wind environment was discussed.In combination with the basic research in Chapters 2 and 3,in Chapter 4,we chose a plot to be renewed to conduct an renewal experiment.The design sample basically satisfies all aspects of reasonable spatial organization,road organization,and sunshine conditions in the residential area,and the floor area ratio has been improved.After comprehensively considering the influence of the design sample pattern on itself and the surrounding wind environment,different types of layers are analyzed.The possibility and potential of residential settlements in the actual renovation of the building.The research in this paper provides designers in the urban renewal period with assessment methods and reference design strategies for residential ventilation environment,and proposes some potential for residential redevelopment design.The research of this paper is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China’s project"Coupling Mechanism and Control of Urban Morphology and Urban Microclimate"(project code 51538005)hosted by Professor Ding Wowo.The whole thesis contains about 54 000 words,120 pictures and charts.
