| Problems in funeral space have emerged with the acceleration of urbanization and the improvement of population aging in China in recent years.Most of the funeral buildings are located in suburbs at the foot of the mountain for the shortage of land resources How to deal with the complicated geographic conditions is a key in funeral space design.The thesis just comes from the reality location problem of funeral buildings in China.The study is trying to conclude ways to design funeral space in complicated geographic conditions through case study,field research and project practice.Which might provide some ideas and directions for China’s contemporary funeral space designThe study begins to analysis the current situation of the contemporary funeral space design in China.The topography issue is proposed by analysis of several site selection examples and the difficulties and inspiration of the topography problem are concluded.Then,the basic theory of funeral space is carried out in three aspects:contemporary funeral culture and customs,the public and memorial character,the funeral process and function.Based on those analysis,the funeral space feature has been concluded on architectural form,functions and space sequence.After that,the design strategies and specific methods of funeral space design with topography are summarized by case study.With the foundation of various theoretical research,the "Nanjing Hui people funeral parlor " project has been studied to verify the feasibility of topography strategy. |
