Funeral Preference Based Contemporary Cemetery Design

This paper takes the cemetery of Beijing as the research subject,the residents of Beijing as the research object,and the contemporary cemetery design as the focus.We aim to explore the influencing factors of the funeral will of the urban residents,get the cemetery design method that conforms to the current urban development trend,and predict the future development trend of the cemetery design.Firstly,through the existing data analysis method,the objective data published by the Ministry of civil affairs,Beijing Municipal Bureau of statistics,national development and Reform Commission,Beijing 101 Research Institute and other departments are included in the analysis,and the relevant research results of the cemetery at home and abroad in2010-2020 are summarized by literature method.It is concluded that the funeral under the influence of the current culture,system,resources,and technology system in our country presents the problems of lack of humanistic care,environmental pollution,ecological damage,high funeral cost and poor experience of network platform;We find that domestic scholars lack research on the soil pollution,groundwater pollution caused by funeral and the use of cemetery to maintain animal diversity.And we point out that the latest development trend of the urban cemetery is to turn closed cemetery to open urban public space,to use the cemetery for ecological maintenance and to develop cemetery tourism.Secondly,based on the theoretical framework of the development economics model,this paper establishes a cemetery development model composed of culture,system,resources,and technology.Through the investigation and analysis of the funeral wishes of Beijing residents,the following results are obtained: Beijing residents’ emphasis on geomancy and customs in cemetery selection contradicts with the relevant policies and regulations;the most important things to be preserved are information,tombstone,and nameplate;The approved ecological funeral ways are space storage,tree burial,and sea burial;the premise of opening the cemetery into the urban public activity space is to optimize the space environment.Finally,based on the research results and the theoretical framework of culture,system,resources and technology factors,the paper puts forward the contemporary cemetery design concept of respecting customs,innovating ecological burial,opening cemetery to become urban public space,using cemetery for ecological maintenance,upgrading cremation technology,building data platform,and intelligent worship and puts forward specificdesign methods in combination with existing relevant research.
