On Residential Reconstruction Of Existing Buildings Based On Housing Demand Of The Elderly

Since the reform and opening up,there has great change in society,culture and economy,meanwhile,the building industry also has rapid development.In order to resolve the contradiction between population and housing,a large number of multi-storey housings is under construction.Now,it is hard to satisfy people's demand in present stage,because after our country entered into the aging society in 1999,the aging problem has been increasingly serious that the existing buildings are difficult to satisfy the home—care demand of old people in the present stage.Based on the aging phenomenon,the author selects to study the reconstruction of the existing buildings for home—based care of the aged,hoping to be beneficial to the adaptation work.The aged people have strong intention for home—based care.However,the existing buildings still have much insufficient maintenance work and there are many factors for the surrounding facilities improper for the aged people.All in all,it is because that the existing buildings do not use the development vision to consider the home—based care for the aged people at its design stage.The reconstruction level for the elderly is positively related to the home—based care quality which is aimed to extend their self—care ability,enhance their adaptation capability during the nursing period,and improve their behavior trace at home to make it more closely fit for their psychological needs.Large—scale removal and reconstruction is convenient for united planning and construction which was once treated as the way to effectively resolve the housing and improve the house's quality.With deepening aging population nationwide,the existing buildings are not proper for the aged people and such phenomenon becomes prominent.Under the background of sustainable development,the alteration of the existing buildings for the aged could effectively extend the use years of the existing buildings,moreover,it is also determined by China's actual situation and the economic conditions constraining the urban development.Based on the interview with old residents in some existing buildings in Changsha city and household survey,the overall intention and specific needs of the old people are analyzed for the alteration of the existing buildings for the aged,with the purpose to propose suggestions and opinions for such work thus to improve the living standard of the aged people.Seen from the living situation and economic capability of the seniors,the alteration of the existing buildings for the elderly will be one of the important means to adapt into the home—based care for a large number of urban residents in the future.
