Abstract/Summary:
After the Opium War,due to the invasion of the Western powers,China started a turbulent period of modern times.China’s modern history is a period of frequent warfare,the history of the mobilization of life,the history of cultural stirring.The intricate social background of this period has affected all aspects of modern life,in which the modern educational architecture has become a direct witness to the modern history.In this paper,we treat the Chinese modern educational buildings as the research object,to explore the evolution of its form feature,motives and laws.As a unique architectural type,modem educational buildings are widely spread and inherited in the whole country.The construction of buildings is often established with a special foundation,and it is very close to the social background.Thus,it can reflect the relationship between architecture and society,architecture and culture naturally.In the research method,we use "Memetics",which is originated from the cultural research methods,split and reconstruct the form of modern educational buildings and explain the characteristics and causes of educational architectural form from the perspective of cultural communication.Specifically,the paper select seven modern educational buildings with the geographical representation from the perspective of cultural geography,Tsinghua University modern educational buildings in Yanzhao Cultural District,Henan University modern education buildings in Central-plains Cultural District,Wuhan University and Hunan University modern educational buildings in Jingxiang Culture Cultural District,Nanjing University modern educational buildings in Wuyue Cultural District,Xiamen University modern educational buildings in Bamin Cultural District and Sichuan University modern educational buildings in Bashu Cultural District.The seven educational buildings cover the formation of modern Chinese education buildings motivation:Boxer indemnity,Church communication,Government school,Overseas Chinese.The seven educational buildings have different characteristics because of different school backgrounds and different regional cultures,and show the different characteristics of modern Chinese architectural trends and architectural culture.The seven educational buildings not only show the difference of architectural meme spreading,also show the evolution of modern educational architectural form with the same law.On the basis of studying the characteristics and laws of the evolution of modern educational architecture,the paper explains the inheritance between modern educational buildings and contemporary educational buildings,and tries to provide reference for the planning and design of contemporary educational architecture.
