Study On Characteristics And Evolutionary Pattern Of Architectural Complexity System Based On Architectural Meme Theory

The development of architecture presents obvious complex system characteristic.The structure and evolution of architectural phenomenon,architectural style,regional architecture and rural settlements all involve system elements and organization rules.The advantage of architectural meme theory is o establish the correlation among building information,human cognition and environmental impact factors.It also explains the internal mechanism in the development of Architectural Complex System(ACS),as well as in the process of the inheritance and evolution of architectural characteristics.Meanwhile,the particle and evolution characteristics of architectural meme provides a big advantage for the adaptive behavior study of system agent from micro to macro level.Generally speaking,the difficulty of introducing interdisciplinary theory is whether there was a translation part,mature methods and a large number of instances.For its numerous research achievements in culture field,memetics can be the translation part between biological evolution and architecture,which will provide effective references for architectural meme theory.This paper considers that the adaptative behavior among architectural meme,science,and society constitutes the ACS with hierarchical structure and evolution rules from the bottom up.By analyzing the hierarchy structure and evolution rules of ACS,it derives progressively the evolution mechanism of whole system what is long-term and slow-dynamic.Based on above,this paper established two analytical models of hierarchical structure and evolution pattern of ACS taking architectural meme as the adaptive agent.After that,it takes the rural settlements of southeastern Shanxi as empirical case.In this paper,two analytical models are mainly used to analyze the organizational structure and evolution rules of "past" rural settlements,rather than the applied research for "future" development of architecture directly.The empirical part is mainly used to test the theoretical model and explore its application method,rather than focusing on the case itself.Memetics and complex system theory are the latest research results of cultural evolution theory and system theory respectively.It is not only a scientific research method but also a new research perspective by combining them to examine architectural problems with complex system characteristics.Firstly,it proposed the basic composition principle of ACS and established the analytical model of hierarchy structure.Firstly,it points the definition,research method and research scope of ACS,and it creates a theoretic framework of architectural meme theory,including the concept,connotation,characteristics and evaluation standard of architectural memes.Then,Then it demonstrates that architectural memes conform to the characteristics of adaptive agent of complex adaptive systems,such as "nonlinear aggregation" and " building block recombination",so as to propose the description rules of ACS taking architectural memes as adaptive agent from three aspects: "system agent","system structure" and "system behavior".On the basis,it establishes the description logic of overall rules,hierarchy division and connection mode of ACS.Finally,the model of hierarchical structure of ACS associating its macroscopic,mesoscopic and microscopic was established by using "source-target" transformation method.Secondly,it focuses on the evolution mechanism of system in long-term and slow dynamic,what includes three parts: the role of human cognitive ability in the development of ACS,the evolution mode of system agent and the overall evolution mechanism of ACS.Firstly,it analyzes the correlation between human cognitive ability and architectural meme,and their importance in evolutionary process of ACS.Then,it analyzes the "stimulus-feedback" monomer feedback and group evolution mode of architectural meme,what includes four cycle stages: “assimilation,memory,expression and communication”,in order to obtain the overall evolution mechanism of ACS,namely “cultural coordination” and “structural reorganization”.After tracing the development vein in inheritance and evolution of humanistic and science philosophy,this paper analyzes the co-evolution phenomenon of "empathy" architectural view architecture by compared with philosophical meme and architectural meme in the development of western history.And it further makes empirical demonstration and supplement for the overall evolutionary mechanism of ACS.Finally,based on the result of above analysis,the evolution model of ACS is established.Thirdly,Guoyu village,a traditional village in southeast Shanxi,is taken as a case study to demonstrate the models of hierarchical structure and evolution of ACS.To begin with,it analyzes the overall system rules,hierarchy division and connection method of Guoyu village from macro,medium and micro levels.And the "sourcetarget" transformation method is applied to get the hierarchical structure model of Guoyu village.Then,the influencing factors and evolutionary results of natural selection and social selection in the development of guayu village were compared and analyzed,and the co-evolution and recombination behaviors between regional dominant cultural meme and architectural meme in a certain period were explored by using the comprehensive analysis method of architectural meme,so as to build the evolutionary model of Guayu village.Finally,it summarizes the research conclusions in this paper,reflects on the advantages and disadvantages of ACS models and research method of architectural meme,discusses the future research direction.It hopes that more researchers from relevant disciplines will be take part in the following research,and a large number of empirical research will be proceeded so as to improve the ACS models,and explore its quantitative analysis method.In the end,an evaluation system for the hierarchical structure and evaluation pattern of ACS should be established.
