Research On Public Toilet Spatial Distribution In Jiangdong District Of Ningbo City

The study of the layout of public service facilities was studied much,but its research is more standardized and digitized with the introduction and perfection of the geographic information system(GIS).Public toilets as an important part of urban public service facility,are an indispensable environmental sanitation facilities for the public to provide services,especially when the critical period of ecological civilization construction(economic construction,environmental construction,cultural construction and other urban development)was put forward in the country.In the circumstance of the new requirements and the new standard,to constantly improve the urban environmental health infrastructure construction,to constantly create a balanced and equitable supply of public service facilities atmosphere and to continuously improve the residents travel comfort has become an urgent need.In Ningbo City Urban Master Plan(2006-2020)(revised in 2015)for the city of Ningbo city environmental sanitation facilities higher requirements was put forward and by 2020 urban public toilets will meet the requirement of 2,800 people / toilet.Prior urban researchoften focused on urban public service facilities,including the types of facilities,such as health care,education,retail,shelter,municipal infrastructure(landfills,sewage treatment plants,etc.),etc.More attention was paid to thefacilities which significantly affect the residents living,however little attention was paid to the location research of the public toilets which is closely related to residents living and widely distributed but have smallservice range.As a necessary component of environmental health facilities,the balance and fairness of the public toilets’ layout is related to the comfort of residents travel.Therefore,the optimization of public toilets location is an integral part of the optimization of urban public service facilities.In this investigation,the spatial layout characteristics of public toilets in Jiangdong District of Ningbo City are optimized.The main research contents are as follows:(1)Through spot investigation,public toilets’ current situation and characteristics is analyzed and summarized.(2)According to the disadvantages of public toilets distribution in the study area,the location of the public toilet is re-located and the layout of the public toilet was optimized by using the locationallocation model in GIS.(3)The accessibility and fairness of the public toilets in Jiangdong District is evaluated and optimal space layout scheme of public toilets was obtained.The consequences are retaining the existing facilities public 44 toilets,adjusting 63 toilets and adding 7 toilets in the study area.The number of public toilets is reduced in the central urban areas and increased in the sparsely populated areas in the adjusted program.The public toilet facilities are spilled over to the population relatively scattered areas.The accessibility level and the service balance of toilets for residents are improved on the whole.
