Research On The Design Strategy Of The Boutique Hotel Based On The Transformation Of Old Buildings

Boutique hotel,as a new hotel operating mode,is much favored by consumers because of its personalized living experience and rich cultural atmosphere.With the development of China's economy,the enhancement of consumer spending power and quality needs,as well as the increased number of foreign tourists and business people,China's boutique hotel industry has a great development potential in the future.Renovation and renewal are eternal topics of architectural design.Renovating an old building to build a boutique hotel could preserve the valuable information contained in the old buildings,and also extend the historical memory of the site.At the same time,the characteristics of the old building itself can be transformed through a certain way to the unique feature of a boutique hotel.In this way,the old building could be preserved and reused,it can also avoid a large number of construction waste,which has the objective environmental benefits.So far,although there are some boutique hotels that were transformed from the old buildings,still there's a lack of more systematic research.The boutique hotel is distinctive,and there are many different types of old buildings which can be transformed into boutique hotels.There are no established design methods.Through the analysis of the existing cases,this paper intends to summarize the commonality of such renovating projects in terms of design strategies,and wish to provide some inspiration for the future research and practice.This article starts from the basic concepts and features of both the boutique hotel and the old building,analyzes the suitability between them in depth,and put forward the design principles of boutique hotel based on old building renovation.Based on this,it combines the research of actual case,discusses detailedly the boutique hotel transformation design strategy from two angles: the architectural space and architectural forms.This article first explains the design process used in the renovation,from old buildings to boutique hotels,from the perspective of space experience.And it achieves the changes from old building space to boutique hotel space through layout analysis,function conversion,streamline reconstruction and detailed design.And then,it starts from the architectural form and construction,aims at giving the distinctive features of the hotel building and achieving the perfect combination of old and new parts of the building,and puts forward the corresponding renovation strategy respectively in terms of three aspects: volume adjustment,facade updates and structural technology innovation.
