Study On Outdoor Therapeutic Landscape Promotion Strategies Of Henan Psychiatric Hospital

With the increasing pressure of fast-paced life of modern society,people’s mental and physical health have been paid more and more attention.Data show that in recent years the number of psychiatric patients in China increased year by year.Although the psychiatric medical technology is also in constant development,more open,the mental patients humanized management mode is gradually replace the traditional closed management mode imprisoned for mental patients.However,the role of outdoor landscape environment for patients with mental illness and other hospital outdoor landscape users has not been taken seriously in psychiatric hospitals.This paper summarizes the therapeutic landscape theory and the basic knowledge of psychiatry and the research history and progress in China and aboard,putting forward three interdisciplinary theories coexisting in psychiatry and rehabilitation of landscape science : landscape physical therapy,psychological therapy and horticultural therapy.Good therapeutic landscape design in four psychiatric hospitals(Shantou University Mental Health Center,Beijing Huilongguan Hospital,Helsingor Clinic and Saiseikai psychiatric rehabilitation hospital)at home and aboard were analyzed,the design of barrier free design,plant configuration,space division,landscape material selection included.On this basis,this paper makes a further study on psychiatric hospital outdoor therapeutic landscape,and the results are as follows:(1)This paper summarizes the psychological characteristics and landscape needs of the population of the therapeutic landscape in the psychiatric hospital.According to the users’ needs,it promotes psychiatric hospital outdoor therapeutic landscape design should obey seven principles:security,identifiability,aesthetics,ecology,spatial diversity,accessibility and regionality.This paper also points out the design point of different landscape elements such as Plant,road pavement,water features,landscape facilities.(2)Through field research in Henan Psychiatric Hospital,the existing environment of hospital was divided into the entrance area and the central area of green and green courtyard department areas to analyze the present situation,and found that although Henan Psychiatric Hospital outdoor landscape green area is relatively large,there were still some problems:Monotonous landscape elements,deficient landscape facilities,not rich plant level,winter landscape shortage,disorderly parking.(3)All ages of the Henan Psychiatric Hospital with independent consciousness of mental patients,medical staffs and family members of patients were conducted a questionnaire survey,behavior observation and interview,aiming to study the landscape preferences of outdoor landscape uers in psychiatric hospitals.The survey results showed that about outdoor activities,participants like walking most;about landscape elements,30.5% people chose waterscape as their favorite landscape element;about the landscape facilities material,wood material is the most popular type of landscape preferences.The preference of respondents to the natural style landscape was significantly greater than that to the regular.The authors investigated the user satisfaction of Henan Psychiatric Hospital landscape and suggestions for improvement,and found Henan Psychiatric Hospital outdoor landscape is not so satisfactory.The reasons from the suggestions can peep some.Most users put forward to increase the accessibility of green space,increasing plant species richness and the number of waterscape design.(4)According to the Henan Psychiatric Hospital landscape situation,author put forward the promotion strategies about therapeutic landscape of three different types green space in Henan psychiatric hospital,and then put forward the horticultural therapy and five sense therapy design into rehabilitation hospital outdoor landscape design.This paper can perfect therapeutic landscape design theory and practice system in psychiatric hospital outdoor space and provide a reference for therapeutic landscape design for other northern psychiatric hospitals in the future.
