In recent years, with the increasing of ocean exploitation and underwater project, there are more and more application occasions of high resolution profiler. The profiler can be used for ocean geology detection, archeology research, pipeline locating, storage tank survey and so on. This paper is about the profiler designing for searching the oil pipeline which is being buried.Nowadays, most of the profiler use wide-band chirp signal as the transmitting signal.the vertical resolution is only related to the bandwidth of the chirp signal after impulse compress procession of the receicing signal and not related to the time duration of the transmitting signal. LFM technique can solve the contradiction of the penetration and resolution. By using beam forming technique, the profiler can obtain multi-angle information by one time, it is not only increasing the SNR, but also can increasing the speed of scanning an area. This text includes: discussion of the research background, research status both internal and abroad, simulation of digital signal processing algorithm such as beam forming and impulse compress using Matlab; On the basis of it, analysised the the main technical specification of the profiler sonar system. After that, writed a program of the digital signal procession of profiler sonar running on the chip OMAPL138 which is produced by Texas Instruments. By making a compassion between the results and matlab simulation outcome, proving its validity. At last, transmitting the result of running dsp program to PC through the serial interface.Finishing the design of display software. It can show the data of the results in a direct way to the users.
