In the background of emotional consumption, consumers are not only satisfied with the product which brings practical function, but more pursuit of spiritual satisfaction. In the field of home medical rehabilitation equipment, more users’ mental and spiritual levels of demand should be focused on,so it needs a new design method which is rising to study the relationship between various factors in design and emotion, then it can use the findings of emotional factors to guide the design, Emotional Design gets to rise. The development of Emotional Design is related to many disciplines and concepts, and the most closely related one is Kansei Engineering.Firstly, do a introduction with the development status and analysis emotional design trends of home medical rehabilitation equipment. Discussing on Kansei Engineering which is the most closely related and greatest impact with Emotional Design and analyzing its using in domestic and international product design, domestic and international status of Kansei Engineering using in home medical rehabilitation equipment. Introducing engineering methods and quantitative methods on "emotional", then choose the best methods in order to do experimental research in this paper. Investigating the operation environment, operation state, product users and analyze design factors in home medical rehabilitation equipment.As home treatment instrument for cervical vertebra for example,introducing product status and investigating home cervical treatment instrument’s product users. Secondly,perceptual assessment conducted in cervical treatment instrument, collect product samples and related emotional vocabulary to sample shape, extract the sample and emotional vocabulary through the analysis of shape design factors and the questionnaire survey method, use experimental samples and associated emotional vocabulary to build Kansei semantic space. Using engineering solutions and quantitative research methods in studying the relationship between the experimental process of experimental samples and perceptual evaluation of the"emotional", using qualitative and quantitative analysis methods in emotional vocabulary,experimental features of the sample and experimental data. Finally, base on experimental summary of home cervical treatment instrument to do a deepen design and then do design verification in Kansei semantic space.Through the study of Kansei Engineering research methods used in cervical treatment instrument and deepening design verification in this paper, verifying that use the methods of Kansei Engineering in home medical rehabilitation equipment design is feasible. This paper attempts to use the practice of emotional design in home medical rehabilitation equipment field to explore the application value of Kansei Engineering in the field of product design.
